Technique Fun with Easy Events

Hello and welcome to the weekend. Today I am going to share one of the cards we did for club this week. It is the same technique I showed you on my last card. It uses the Big Shot and the Striped Embossing Folder. The colors are the new Lucky Limeade, Poppy Parade and Crumb Cake. The stamp set is Easy Events and we used the Aquapainter to watercolor the image after it was stamped on the Very Vanilla Card Stock. The scallop was created with the 2 3/8" Scallop Circle Punch and the Very Vanilla Circle was cut out the the #2 Circle Die and the Big Shot. The final additions to the card are the Perfect Polka Dots on the Lucky Limeade Card Stock base and the Scallop Polka Dot Ribbon around the middle of the plaid Poppy Piece. I really like that the Ribbon is Polka Dotted on one side and plain on the other so that you can use it either way. It's like getting two ribbons on one roll.

Little Duckie!

Hello and good afternoon! Today I want to share a fun card that I made this week with a new Technique that was featured at Convention by Jan Tink of Stamp, Paper, Scissors. The technique piece is the plaid background that can be seen behind the duckie. To make this piece all you need it the Big Shot, Striped Embossing Folder, Brayer, Classic Ink Pad(s) and White Card Stock. The colors for this card are Calypso Coral, Pool Party, and Whisper White. The duck includes Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie. The duck is from the Easy Events Stamp Set and is punched out with the 2 3/8" Scallop Circle Punch after is was colored with the Aquapainter. I added a Calypso Coral Dotted Scallop Ribbon Punch piece to the side of the card and to finish off the card I used my sewing machine and stitched. The stitching was quite easy and I will probably more likely to stitch on my cards in the future but I really want to start a new sewing project too, possibly a Christmas one. One more night of club this evening and then I have a few days off but need to work on more Birthday cards for the Bring on the Brithday Cards Class. Watercolor and Embossing Fun!

Good morning! I few days ago I came across this great card by Lyssa Griffin Zwolanek and I just had to give the technique a try. Thanks, Lyssa! I didn't have the new Embossing Folder that Lyssa used yet so I decided to pull out one of my favorite but sadly neglected folders Manhattan Flowers. I used Whisper White Card Stock and then colored the roses with the Regal Rose and Rose Red Watercolor Crayons. To soften the look I used the Aquapainter and smoothed out the coloring and did some blending. It is a little darker than it appears in the picture but the overcast days have made it hard to take pictures. The Just for You is from the Level 1 Afterthoughts which you can earn when you host a workshop. I decided the card didn't need any other embellishments and just added a layer of Old Olive Card Stock and then a Regal Rose Card Stock base. This card is ready to mail for any occasion and it is easy enough to make several of them just to have on hand. I think I will play around with some other colors and see which color of roses I like the best. Any suggestions for the roses? Let me know. Well, that is it for today. Springtime Butterfly!

Good morning! I am so excited to share this card with you! I really love how it turned out and since I didn't have a plan when I started the card it makes it even better. The dimensional butterflies have been popping up on several blog and Stampin' Connections. I am not sure who the original idea came from but if it was yours Thank You!
The butterflies are kind of small to stand alone but on the front of a card they are perfect. I used a base of Crumb Cake left over from yesterday's card then added a layer of the Springtime Vintage Designer Series Paper from the Occasions Mini. I added a second print from the same DSP pack and a Not Quite Navy piece of Card Stock that has been edge punched with the Scallop Trim Border Punch. I added the Very Vanilla Seam Binding and added the Fabulous Friend sentiment from the Oval All Stamp Set. I stamped on Very Vanilla Card Stock in Basic Gray before coloring with the Baja Breeze Classic Ink Pad and the Aquapainter. I used the Scallop Oval Punch and the 1 3/4"x 7/8" Oval Punch on the sentiment. The butterfly was made with Baja Breeze Card Stock, the Big Shot and the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die. The front butterfly had texture added with the Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. To add some contrast to the butterfly I sponged the raised areas with the Not Quite Navy Classic Ink Pad and a Sponge Dauber, then spritzed it with Shimmer Mist for some extra shine. Basic Pearls were added to the center of the butterflies body and he was attached to the front of the card. He lays flat to mail and then pops up for display purposes. I am trying to decide who to send this card to as it needs to be mailed and enjoyed by others. Springtime Awaits

Good afternoon, I was able to get a little time to stamp today and have a card to share with you. I cased a layout I saw on Stampin' Connections but rotated the card 90 degrees. I used the new Springtime Blossoms Stamp Set and the Tulip Frame Impressions Embossing Folder. The card stock color I used is not one I traditionally pull out and is Shara Sand. The Very Vanilla Seam Binding looks better in person so it must be the color is off from the monitor or at least that is what I am going with right now. :) I stamped the images in Basic Gray Classic Ink and used the Whisper White Watercolor Crayon to color in a few of the flowers before I watercolored them with the Regal Rose Classic Ink Pad and the Aquapainter. The Crayon resists the ink and leaves the white accents on the flowers. The sentiment was punched out with the Oval Punch and layered with the Scallop Oval Punch that was punched out of Pretty in Pink Card Stock. I added a layer of Pretty in Pink Card Stock behind the stamped image and this card is complete. Pretty simple but it helps me get back into the stamping mood after I have taken some time off. Country Side!

Good evening! Tonight was Stamp Club night and I am going to share one of the cards that we did. I recently bought the Country Side Stamp Set. I wanted to get my Watercolor Wonder Crayons out and this is the perfect set. We stamped with pump image with Jet Black Stazon on Watercolor Paper then colored the image with the Aquapainter and the Basic Gray, Chocolate Chip, Garden Green and Old Olive Watercolor Crayons. The watercolor paper is a little more forgiving when coloring and allows you to play with your coloring a little more than traditional Whisper White or Very Vanilla Card Stock. The background is made with the Weathered Texture Plate and the Chocolate Chip Classic Stamp Pad. All you need to do is ink up the Texture Plate with the Classic Stamp Pad then add your card stock (Crumb Cake for this card) then run your Texture Plate through like usual. The base is Chocolate Chip, there is a strip of Woodland Walk Designer Series Paper. The Watercolor Paper is layer on Garden Green then layered on another layer of Chocolate Chip Card Stock, we added the Thinking of you sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set. It was stamped on Very Vanilla Card with Chocolate Chip Classic Ink and punched out with the Word Window Punch. We also added Very Vanilla Card Stock to the inside with a small strip of Garden Green Card Stock across the bottom. There is a little paper piercing on the card at the top corner of the Designer Series Paper and the Very Vanilla on the inside of the card.

Christmas Time!

Hello! It is Friday and day two of Convention. I have two organized swaps today but I am only going to share my Christmas Card today. When the new catalog came out I fell in love with the Greeting Card Kids Stamp Set. It is just so vintage looking and the kids are super cute. This card uses a lot of layers, and accessories but I am thrilled at the way it turned out. It is time consuming but definitely worth it. So for the supplies, Crumb Cake Card Stock, Blushing Bride Card Stock, Riding Hood Red Card Stock, Very Vanilla Card Stock, Greeting Card Kids Stamp Set, Four the Holidays Stamp Set, Basic Gray Classic Stamp Set, Riding Hood Red Classic Stamp Pad, Wild Wasabi Classic Stamp Pad, So Saffron Stampin' Write Marker, Blush Blossom Stampin' Write Marker, Chocolate Chip Classic Stamp Pad, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, Scallop Circle #2 Die, 2 1/2 Circle cut with the Circle Scissors, Victoria Crochet Trim, Eyelet Border Punch, Crimper, Chunky Essentials Glitter White. I used both 2 way glue and Crystal Effects to attach the glitter. It is hard to see in the picture but I used shaved Very Vanilla Card Stock to add a fur like trim to her coat and hat. There are so many details in this card, I made 25 of them and it took most of a day, but I would do it again and I can't wait to get 25 new Christmas Cards to share with you. It is never to early to start thinking about your Christmas Card designs. ;) Tonight we have a wonderful dinner and stampin' Evening planned. Elements of Style Take ?

I have several projects to share but unfortunately the weather is not cooperating as it has been rainy and yucky which does not make for good picture taking. So I will share with you the second project that we made for club this week. I know that I have been using this set a lot in the last few weeks but it really it my favorite set in the Summer Mini. It takes a little while to watercolor the whole floral image so for club we used Spotlighting to accent just a few of the flowers. To do this you need to stamp you image twice with Basic Gray Classic Ink Pad and then punch out one part of your image with one of the circle or even square punches. We used the 1 1/4" Circle Punch. We watercolored the punched out area with the Aquapainter and Old Olive, Cameo Coral and Ruby Red Classic Stamp Pads. We used the 1 3/8" Circle Punch to add a Old Olive Card Stock layer behind the 1 1/4" Circle. The Hummingbird was made using Rock n Roll. We inked up the hummingbird with Cameo Coral Classic Ink Pad and then rolled the edges on the Ruby Red Classic Ink Pad. We cut out the hummingbird then attached it to the card using a small piece of Whisper White Card Stock that was folded it into a Z shape and attached it to the card and hummingbird with a Mini Glue Dot. This makes the hummingbird appear to be in flight and give it movement. The base of the card stock is Cameo Coral and the swirl image was used on the base of the card stock. Ruby Red Card Stock that was layered behind the floral image has the bottom edge punched out with the Eyelet Border Punch. Just a quick reminder both Cameo Coral and Ruby Red are two of the retiring colors that are only available while supplies last.

Elegant So Saffron

Are you tired of this stamp set yet? I just love the look of it and I am working on different options for stamping with it. I really want to stamp it on a tile but I haven't had a chance yet. I watercolored with the Aquapainter, So Saffron Classic Ink, More Mustard Classic Ink, and Old Olive Classic Ink. I sponged the edges a little with So Saffron before matting it on Basic Gray Card Stock. I added 5/8" Satin Basic Gray Ribbon. Fifth Avenue Floral 20% Off

Good evening, hope you are all enjoying a great weekend. The weather was a little cooler today but at least it was sunny. :) The cards I am sharing with you today are not new but I love the technique and stamp set and since it is on sale for 20% off this month I thought I would share. When is comes to embossing techniques the Shimmer Paper Watercoloring in my opinion provides a great WOW factor and it is so easy. I inked up the rose from the Fifth Avenue Floral Stamp Set with Versamark then embossed with White Embossing Powder. I used Shimmer Paper for this. After heat embossing you spray your card stock with water then using the Aquapainter and Reinkers you color in your image. I usually cut the flowers out after they dry then use them for my cards. I made these two beauties Mother's Day cards last year and one uses one of the returning In Colors, Riding Hood Red! I liked this color last year and am happy to have it back. Both layouts are similar just different colors. On the top card I used Riding Hood Red and Pretty In Pink Reinkers and on the second card I used So Saffron and Summer Sun Reinkers. At least that is what I think I used, I can't remember exactly and it has been almost a year. The Happy Mother's Day is from the All Holiday's Stamp Set. More Valentine's Fun

Good evening again, it is a late night post. Maybe I should just start planning my post for the evening then if they are earlier we will all be surprised. First I wanted to give you an update on the I {heart} Heart Haitian Relief that Stampin'Up! is currently doing. As of yesterday they have sold 6694 stamp sets with $2 from each going to the Red Cross to help with the relief efforts in Haiti. Wow great job, but it isn't to late to purchase your stamp set.

Today's Valentine's day card is another 3x3 size that is perfect for kids to give their friends. I just love the little turtle with his wagon. The best part is this isn't even a Valentine set. The turtle is from our Ronald McDonald House Charities Stamp Set Very Thankful (115338). Every year Stampin'Up! has a new set that is their RMHC set of the year. For every set that is sold they donate $2 to the RMHC. Stampin'Up! really is a great company to represent! Okay back to the card, it is pretty simple and if you are going to make a lot of Valentine's simple is always good. I started with a base of Real Red Card Stock (102482) and then stamped the turtle image on Whisper White Card Stock (100730) with the Basic Gray Stampin' Pad (109120). I omitted the very thankful that is below the image by masking it off before stamping. This is a great way to get extra use out of a stamp. I watercolored the images with the Aquapainter, Real Red Classic Stampin'Pad (103133), Certainly Celery Classic Stampin'Pad (105217), Close to Cocoa Classic Stampin' Pad (103139), and Going Gray Classic Stampin'Pad (103274). I used Old Olive Card Stock (100702) that I tore along the edge and added it below my image to make grass. I then used the Happy Valentine's Day from Teeny Tiny Wishes (115370) and stamped it with the Basic Gray Classic Stampin'Pad along the bottom of the card. Cute, but simple and ready to go to school with your child. Would your child like to make their own Valentine's this year for their friends? Tale of Two Cards

Good afternoon, sorry for the late post but Thursday's are busy with school activities and other things which pushes my post times back, unless I happen to write it the night before which sometimes does happen but last night I was busy stamping. I have two cards to show you today and they are the same basic card just one is stepped up a little bit. The base of both is Kraft Card Stock (102125) with Whisper White Card Stock (100730) for the stamped image and Welcome Neighbor Designer Series Paper Pad (118401), which is a Sale-a-bration item. The Happy Moments stamp set (119125) I used is also a Sale-a-bration item. So for the first card or the basic card I stamped the image with the Basic Gray Classic Stampin' Pad (109120) and then watercolored the flowers and leaves with Old Olive Classic Stampin' Pad (102277), Melon Mambo Classic Stampin' Pad (115656), Crushed Curry Classic Stampin' Pad (115659), and Pretty in Pink Classic Stampin' Pad (101301). This card is looks nice and is a great card to make multiples of but I wanted to add just a little but more.
For the second card I used the same basic pieces and then stepped the card up a little bit with texture and a little matting.
So before I assembled the second card I added Polka Dots to the card front with the new Stampin' Up! Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Folder (117335). Then I added a layer of Crushed Curry Card Stock (115319) that I used the new Scallop Trim Corner Punch(118870) and Scallop Trim Edge Punch another free Sale-a-bration item on. Now I will admit this took a little bit of practice to get my scallops to all match up but the result is so work it. It really just sets off the image and makes it look like a framed work of art. One more thing I want to point out is the Clear Mount Block that is next to my card. As I was getting ready to stamp this image last night I was like wow I can put both stamps on the block at the same time and just stamp once. See how nicely they fit on the block together and you can see exactly how they will be stamped. I like the clear mount stamps but I still don't think I will completely change over, but really only time will tell. Good moring, I hope that you are having a great day. I got to stamp yesterday which always makes me happy but I didn't get a chance to post so I am sorry about that. :( I am working on Valentine's Card for kids to give to their friends and I couldn't forget about the wonderful Build- A-Bear Stamps that are in the Occasions Mini. Okay so back to today's cards. They are when finished 3x3 cards. I used a lot of the InColors for these as I like the bright cheery colors. The bases of the card are Bermuda Bay Card Stock (115317) and Melon Mambo Card Stock (115320), I also used Crushed Curry Card Stock (115319) on the boy card and Bermuda Bay Card Stock (115317) on the girl card. I used two stamp sets Beary Best Friends (118052) and Beary Best Times (118088). I stamped the images with Basic Brown Classic Ink (104315) on Whisper White Card Stock (100730) then watercolored with the Aquapainter (103954). If you look closely at the girl bears dress you will notice it is polka dotted well to do this a stamped the girl bear on a post it note and cut out just the dress portion of the image. Then a placed the post it note over the stamped image leaving just the dress area to stamp. I stamped over the area with Bermuda Bay Classic Stampin' Pad and the polka dot stamp from Itty Bitty Backgrounds (114996). When you remove the post it note her dress is polka dotted. This is just another form of masking and it adds extra detail to your project. For watercoloring I used Bermuda Bay Classic Stampin' Pad (115655), Crushed Curry Classic Stampin' Pad (115659), Melon Mambo Classic Stampin' Pad(115656), Close to Cocoa Classic Stampin' Pad (103139), and Creamy Caramel Classic Stampin' Pad (103220). The letters that my bears are holding were stamped on a scrap piece of Whisper White Card Stock watercolored, cut out and added with a Stampin' Dimensional. It is hard to see in the picture but I also stamped the letter on the base of the cards with the same color ink as the card. Cute little Valentine's ready to give to all your friends.

Shimmer Angel

Good morning, I finally got a chance to work on something new yesterday and today's card is what I created. I had made the embossed scallop oval (made with the Big Shot and Frame Scallop Oval Die (114521) and Stampin'Up! Textured Impressions Folder Petals-a-Plenty (116824), a few weeks ago and set it aside when it didn't fit the card that I was working on but yesterday I got is back out and decided to sponge the poinsettias Real Red and from there the card just moved right along. The inside oval seemed like the perfect place to have the Angel from the Holy Triptych Stamp Set (110370). I know I have mentioned it before but I really love this set. I stamped the angel in Basic Gray Classic Ink (109120) and watercolored her with Blush Blossom (102609), Real Red (103133), and So Saffron (105213) Classic Ink and the Aquapainter (103954). I also used an old Blender Pen (102845) and the Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint (116806) to paint her wings, and highlight her dress and hair. I stamped the Peace on Earth from Four the Holidays Stamp Set (116921) on Whisper White Card Stock (100730) with Gold Encore! Pad (101017). After the image dried, I mixed 70% Rubbing Alcohol and more Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint and made a Shimmer Mister to spray over the Scallop Oval, the Whisper White Angel Oval and the Sentiment to add some extra shimmer and shine. It makes the card stock look like Shimmer Card Stock (101910) only with a gold sheen. The base of the card is Real Red Card Stock (102482) with a layer of Burshed Gold Card Stock (102935) that I texturized with the Stampin'Up! Perfect Details Texturz Plate (115962). The Scallop Oval was added to the card with Mini Glue Dots (103683) and the sentiment and Angel were added with Stampin' Dimensionals (104430). I really wish the shimmer showed up better on the picture but know that in person this card has a lot of shimmer. Flowers for Roo!

Good morning! This has been a busy week and I have loved stamping with several different groups. Last night I had a Halloween Scrapbook Workshop and we had a great time! It has inspired me to do more scrapbooking and I am already thinking about Christmas and Fall layouts so watch for more information. I will share the Halloween pages with you a little later. I wanted to take a few new pictures and with the rainy weather it isn't the best picture taking time. So for today I thought I would share with you a card that we did over the weekend at a Baby Shower I was asked to do. The host of the shower asked me to design two cards using the Build-a-Roo Stamp Set (115948). One would be for the Mom to be and the other would be for the guest to take home. It was a lot of fun and I was able to take me assistant (aka my wonderful daughter) with me so that made the day even more enjoyable. Both Cards were simple in design because I knew that the Watercoloring would take a while and since all were beginner stampers I didn't want to overwhelm them their first day. We also used the Stamp-a-ma-jig which takes some time and patience. Everyone did a great job and I hope they had a good time. The card colors were based off of the bedding that the Mom to be had chosen for the baby's room. On the first card the base is Rich Razzleberry Card Stock (115658) with an accent strip of Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper (115671) that I used the Eyelet Border Punch (113692) on both sides of. I also used Versamark and stamped hearts from the same set randomly on the Rich Razzleberry card stock just to add a little extra element. Then the Kangaroo was stamped with Basic Brown Classic Ink (104315) on Whisper White Card Stock (100730). On this card the Joey was added in the pouch and the sentiment Peek a Boo Someone New was added to the top also in Basic Brown Classic Ink (104305). The kangaroos were then watercolored with Creamy Caramel (103220), Pink Passion ( 101212) and Close to Cocoa (103139) Classic Ink and the Aquapainter. After rounding the corners with the 3/16" Corner Rounder (109047) the image was added to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.
The second card started with a base of Pale Plum Card Stock (101658) and I added Polka Dot Dry Embossing with the Big Shot and the Stampin' Up! Backgrounds ! Texturz Plates (114512). A little Rich Razzleberry 1/2" Polka-Dot Grosgrain Ribbon (115613) was added around the middle and tied in a simple knot. On this Kangaroo I added flowers in her pouch and a Thanks So Very Much sentiment. The flowers were colored with Rich Razzleberry (115658), Pink Passion (101212), Pale Plum (102732) and Green Galore (102122) Classic Ink before the corners were again rounded and the image was added to the card.

Good afternoon, it is a busy day at our house but I didn't want to miss a chance to post another Christmas card. I made a card similar to this one for one of my convention swaps but realized that I had never posted. I changed it just a little bit for my Christmas Card Class that I am having tomorrow. This is my favorite Christmas Set. I had to buy it as soon as I saw it in the Holiday Mini and was thrilled to see it in the Catalog. The set is called Holy Triptych (110370) and has images of an angel, Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus and then the three Wise Men. The base Night of Navy Card Stock (100867), then a layer of Rich Razzleberry Card Stock (115316) that I ran through a Swirled Texturz Plate from the Stampin'Up! Backgrounds 1 (114512). The image is stamped with Basic Gray Classic Ink (109120) and watercolored with Night of Navy (102977), Rich Razzleberry (115658), So Saffron (105213), Brocade Blue (101102), Blush Blossom (102609) and Chocolate Chip (100908) Classic Ink and the Aquapainter (103954). I used a mat of Brocade Blue Card Stock (101166) behind the image. The card looked a little plain so I added Whisper White 5/8" Satin Ribbon (114616) and added a knot. The Peace on Earth is from the new Four the Holidays Stamp Set ( 116921) that is in the Holiday Mini. I stamped it in Night of Navy Classic Ink on Whisper White Card Stock and then added a mat of Night of Navy Card Stock. This card is a little more time consuming because of the watercoloring but definitely one you can make multiples of for all your friends and family. Courage

Today's card is a special thank you to our troops. We will be sending one of each of these in the boxes that we send over to the troops. I keep the layout very simple and the colors are Real Red (102482), Night of Navy (100867)and Confetti White (102028) Card Stock. The stamp set is Courage (115330) and can be found on page 67 of the main catalog. I stamped both images with Basic Gray Classic Ink (109120) on the Confetti White Card Stock.

The main image was then watercolored with the Bold Bright (106695) , Rich Regals (106698), Earth Elements (106696) and Neutrals (106746) Watercolor Wonder Crayons. On some areas I colored directly on the image and then used the Aquapainter (103954) to blend the color and on other areas I picked up the color with the Aquapainter and then colored with it. I used the White Uni-ball Signo Gel Pen (105021) to highlight the stars and smaller stripes on the flags. Both stamped images were added to the card with dimensionals. This is a great set to have if you have a loved one that has served or is serving in the military. We really can't thank them enough for all that they do to insure our freedom.

Birthday Build A Bear

Good afternoon, I have had a busy morning and wasn't sure what I was actually going to post today then I remembered this Build A Bear Card that I made for a special birthday girl. She has already received the card so no worries that I will be giving her a sneak peak before the card arrives.

I think this set is so much fun and love how easy it is to design cards. They are fun to watercolor or as I have done in this card Paper Piece. The base of the card is Ballet Blue Card Stock (100613) and I used the new Pawsitively Prints Designer Series Paper (118060) both as the background layer and for my little girl bear's dress. This paper was designed for the Build A Bears and is a smaller scale which makes it perfect for making clothes for both the stamped images and the Stampin'Up! Bear for the Big Shot. I stamped the girl bear and her gift bag from the Beary Best Friends Stamp Set (118052) on Confetti White Card Stock (102028) in Basic Brown Ink (104315) and watercolored with the Aquapainter (103954) and Pretty in Pink (101301), Ballet Blue (100907) , Close to Cocoa (103139), and Creamy Caramel (103220) Classic Ink. I stamped the bear again on the Designer Series Paper and carefully cut out her dress and added it with Dimensionals. I used more dimensionals to the back and added it to the center of the card. Then I used Basic Brown Classic Ink again and stamped the Happy Bearthday from the Beary Nice Wishes (118050) on Confetti White Card Stock and layered it behind more Ballet Blue Card Stock attached it to the card and the card is finished.

I think this set would make great party favors just stamp the images and let the kids do the coloring! What child doesn't like to color and who can resist these cute images. Build-A-Bear

Hello! Sorry it has been a couple of days since I posted last. I have been busy creating new cards to show you and with baseball there hasn't been a good time to post. But I will make up for that today by showing you two cards from a couple of sets that will be available for purchase on September 1st, which is of course just next week! If you haven't heard Stampin'Up! has partnered with Build-a-Bear to make exclusive stamp sets, Sizzix Dies and Designer Series Paper available to you. I have been anxious to ink up these stamp sets for a couple of week and after making three Christmas cards I decided to move onto these cute Bears. The stamp sets are Beary Best Friends (118052) and Beary Nice Wishes (118050). I kept the cards simple because of a project I have coming up in October that will have new stampers at it and also because as cute as these bears are they don't require alot of extras.

Both the girl bear and the boy bear are stamped on Watercolor Paper (105019) as are the sentiments. Using the Watercolor Paper allows your color to blend and spread more easily across your image. I used the Aquapainter and Classic Ink to do my watercoloring. I used colors from the Tall Tales Designer Series Paper (115678) which include Brilliant Blue, Old Olive, So Saffron, and Rose Red. The little girl's card has a striped background that is from the Tall Tales Designer Series Paper. I also added a faux Ric-a-rack on the side by using the Scallop Edge Punch (112091) and lining one side off from the first. This is a great way to give the look of ribbon when you don't have ribbon in a style or color. The little Rose Red Flower is punched out with the Trio Flower Punch (109183). I added a silver brad and attached it to the sentiment.
On the little boy's card I added random punched out circle in Brilliant Blue that matches the card. This just adds dimension. Both would make great cards for the children in your life. The Big 50!

Good morning, today is a very special day in our house. My DH has a birthday today and while he doesn't really want a big fuss made about it it is a big birthday as I am sure the title of my post and the card will let you know. The kids and I have some plans for today after he gets done doing some work for friends of ours. That is one of the things I love about my husband is that he is always willing to help others at anytime. He is very generous with his time.
Moving on to today's card, I don't often use retired sets or sets that are no longer available for my blog post but this set was just perfect for the birthday card. Now this is a take 2 card as the first one we started we decided we didn't like. Have you ever done that scrapped a card and switched your process completely? As this is a big birthday we had originally planned to go with black and basic gray on the card but the kids really wanted the "hill" in the middle. Well the two together just didn't work so we switched to this bright colored more cheerful card. The base of the card is Brilliant Blue Card Stock (101843). I used a 5" x 10" piece which makes the finished card 5 x5. This size works best with the inside surprise. I cut out the Whisper White Circle with the Circle Scissor Plus (112530) then stamped the mower image from And Many Mower in Basic Gray Classic Ink (109120) I used the Aquapainter and watercolored with Brilliant Blue, Basic Gray, Real Red and Gable Green Water Color Wonder Crayons. My DD punched out circles from scrap card stock in Gable Green (102795) and Real Red (102482) then texturized them with various Big Shot Texturz Plates.

The inside of the card contains the "hill" that the kids wanted. I used the Pop-Up Three Tier Cake Bigz XL Die (116760). You may remember me using is as a traditional card for my niece's birthday. It also works as a great hill. When adding the strips around the hill, I cut them a little wider than the directions called for so I could cut them to look like grass. Since this is the big 50 we thought that 50 should be at the top of the hill and cut the 50 out with a old sizzix set that I have in Real Red card stock. The Brilliant Blue Circle is punched out with the 1 3/4" Circle Punch (112004). The sentiment And Many Mower! is also from the stamp set it was punched out with the Word Window Punch (105090).
