Watercolor and Embossing Fun!

Good morning! I few days ago I came across this great card by Lyssa Griffin Zwolanek and I just had to give the technique a try. Thanks, Lyssa! I didn't have the new Embossing Folder that Lyssa used yet so I decided to pull out one of my favorite but sadly neglected folders Manhattan Flowers. I used Whisper White Card Stock and then colored the roses with the Regal Rose and Rose Red Watercolor Crayons. To soften the look I used the Aquapainter and smoothed out the coloring and did some blending. It is a little darker than it appears in the picture but the overcast days have made it hard to take pictures. The Just for You is from the Level 1 Afterthoughts which you can earn when you host a workshop. I decided the card didn't need any other embellishments and just added a layer of Old Olive Card Stock and then a Regal Rose Card Stock base. This card is ready to mail for any occasion and it is easy enough to make several of them just to have on hand. I think I will play around with some other colors and see which color of roses I like the best. Any suggestions for the roses? Let me know. Well, that is it for today. Springtime Awaits

Good afternoon, I was able to get a little time to stamp today and have a card to share with you. I cased a layout I saw on Stampin' Connections but rotated the card 90 degrees. I used the new Springtime Blossoms Stamp Set and the Tulip Frame Impressions Embossing Folder. The card stock color I used is not one I traditionally pull out and is Shara Sand. The Very Vanilla Seam Binding looks better in person so it must be the color is off from the monitor or at least that is what I am going with right now. :) I stamped the images in Basic Gray Classic Ink and used the Whisper White Watercolor Crayon to color in a few of the flowers before I watercolored them with the Regal Rose Classic Ink Pad and the Aquapainter. The Crayon resists the ink and leaves the white accents on the flowers. The sentiment was punched out with the Oval Punch and layered with the Scallop Oval Punch that was punched out of Pretty in Pink Card Stock. I added a layer of Pretty in Pink Card Stock behind the stamped image and this card is complete. Pretty simple but it helps me get back into the stamping mood after I have taken some time off. Country Side!

Good evening! Tonight was Stamp Club night and I am going to share one of the cards that we did. I recently bought the Country Side Stamp Set. I wanted to get my Watercolor Wonder Crayons out and this is the perfect set. We stamped with pump image with Jet Black Stazon on Watercolor Paper then colored the image with the Aquapainter and the Basic Gray, Chocolate Chip, Garden Green and Old Olive Watercolor Crayons. The watercolor paper is a little more forgiving when coloring and allows you to play with your coloring a little more than traditional Whisper White or Very Vanilla Card Stock. The background is made with the Weathered Texture Plate and the Chocolate Chip Classic Stamp Pad. All you need to do is ink up the Texture Plate with the Classic Stamp Pad then add your card stock (Crumb Cake for this card) then run your Texture Plate through like usual. The base is Chocolate Chip, there is a strip of Woodland Walk Designer Series Paper. The Watercolor Paper is layer on Garden Green then layered on another layer of Chocolate Chip Card Stock, we added the Thinking of you sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set. It was stamped on Very Vanilla Card with Chocolate Chip Classic Ink and punched out with the Word Window Punch. We also added Very Vanilla Card Stock to the inside with a small strip of Garden Green Card Stock across the bottom. There is a little paper piercing on the card at the top corner of the Designer Series Paper and the Very Vanilla on the inside of the card.

Halloween Greetings!

Good morning, time for another sneak peak and a fun Halloween Card. Now when the new catalog came out I knew I would have to buy the Greeting Card Kids Stamp Set. I love the images and since watercoloring is so much fun I just couldn't resist. I have used all the images and they are all great. This little girl is so cute sitting on her pumpkin. I used watercolor crayons and a blender pen to color her. I used Whisper White Card Stock for her base and punched her out with the new 2 1/2" Circle Punch. I love this punch and it is perfect for all the stamps in this set. I added a Eyelet Border Edge around the circle made from Pumpkin Pie Card Stock. The greeting is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set and is stamped in Jet Black Stazon then punched out with the Modern Label Punch and then layered on Perfect Plum Card Stock that was cut out with the Big Shot and the Movers and Shapers Die. I added one of the new Glitter Brads in Basic Black to the edge of the sentiment for extra bling. The base of the card is just Basic Black Card Stock that I have added the Spider Web Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and Vanilla Smooch Spritz for more sparkle and bling. Really not a hard card to make and if you like to color then this stamp set is a must (in my opinion). I am off to work on our school directory and do some laundry. We are supposed to have three baseball games tonight but they are calling for rain. I figure if I wash the uniform we won't play and if I don't we will. That is just how it works around our house. First Day of School!

Good morning! Today is the first day of school for my boys and so everyone is back in school and my house sure is quiet. I do have a list of things to complete before they come home today (only a half day for everyone) but before I start those I wanted to share a cute little 3"x3" card with you today and a couple of pictures of my kids on their first days of school. I hope their day goes well and that they enjoy catching up with all their friends on the summer time fun. Now back to the card. I LOVE the new stamp set Greeting Card Kids and have been using it a lot lately. I will share some more cards later that I have made with it, today I decided to use the school kids. I stamped them with Jet Black Stazon and watercolored with the Watercolor Crayons and Blender Pen. I used some sponging to make the sky with the Bashful Blue Classic Stamp Pad and then added a little ground with the Blender Pen and Chocolate Chip Marker. I may add a little more sponging on the ground but haven't quite decided yet. This card is the perfect size to send a note to the teacher or even slip in your child's lunch box or backpack to let them know you are thinking of them. If you haven't taken a look at this stamp set I encourage you to! It is just to cute and if you want to watercolor then it is the perfect set. Well, I am off to run errands, do laundry and start working on the three folders of papers I need to fill out for school. Courage

Today's card is a special thank you to our troops. We will be sending one of each of these in the boxes that we send over to the troops. I keep the layout very simple and the colors are Real Red (102482), Night of Navy (100867)and Confetti White (102028) Card Stock. The stamp set is Courage (115330) and can be found on page 67 of the main catalog. I stamped both images with Basic Gray Classic Ink (109120) on the Confetti White Card Stock.

The main image was then watercolored with the Bold Bright (106695) , Rich Regals (106698), Earth Elements (106696) and Neutrals (106746) Watercolor Wonder Crayons. On some areas I colored directly on the image and then used the Aquapainter (103954) to blend the color and on other areas I picked up the color with the Aquapainter and then colored with it. I used the White Uni-ball Signo Gel Pen (105021) to highlight the stars and smaller stripes on the flags. Both stamped images were added to the card with dimensionals. This is a great set to have if you have a loved one that has served or is serving in the military. We really can't thank them enough for all that they do to insure our freedom.

The Big 50!

Good morning, today is a very special day in our house. My DH has a birthday today and while he doesn't really want a big fuss made about it it is a big birthday as I am sure the title of my post and the card will let you know. The kids and I have some plans for today after he gets done doing some work for friends of ours. That is one of the things I love about my husband is that he is always willing to help others at anytime. He is very generous with his time.
Moving on to today's card, I don't often use retired sets or sets that are no longer available for my blog post but this set was just perfect for the birthday card. Now this is a take 2 card as the first one we started we decided we didn't like. Have you ever done that scrapped a card and switched your process completely? As this is a big birthday we had originally planned to go with black and basic gray on the card but the kids really wanted the "hill" in the middle. Well the two together just didn't work so we switched to this bright colored more cheerful card. The base of the card is Brilliant Blue Card Stock (101843). I used a 5" x 10" piece which makes the finished card 5 x5. This size works best with the inside surprise. I cut out the Whisper White Circle with the Circle Scissor Plus (112530) then stamped the mower image from And Many Mower in Basic Gray Classic Ink (109120) I used the Aquapainter and watercolored with Brilliant Blue, Basic Gray, Real Red and Gable Green Water Color Wonder Crayons. My DD punched out circles from scrap card stock in Gable Green (102795) and Real Red (102482) then texturized them with various Big Shot Texturz Plates.

The inside of the card contains the "hill" that the kids wanted. I used the Pop-Up Three Tier Cake Bigz XL Die (116760). You may remember me using is as a traditional card for my niece's birthday. It also works as a great hill. When adding the strips around the hill, I cut them a little wider than the directions called for so I could cut them to look like grass. Since this is the big 50 we thought that 50 should be at the top of the hill and cut the 50 out with a old sizzix set that I have in Real Red card stock. The Brilliant Blue Circle is punched out with the 1 3/4" Circle Punch (112004). The sentiment And Many Mower! is also from the stamp set it was punched out with the Word Window Punch (105090).

Same Supplies Different Layout

Good afternoon, today I am going to share two cards with you that use the same supplies (different colors) but have two different layouts. Usually when I have a Card Class such as a Stamp A Stack all the cards look the same, but recently a customer asked if I could help her with some card designs using the Loads of Love Stamp Set (115022) and after working on one card I thought it would be fun to try and make a second card using the same supplies only change the layout. She had requested birthday cards for both boys and girls. We also discussed colors and some things she liked about certain cards in the catalog. I do this at Christmas time with my customers to help them design their Christmas cards too. The first card uses Pretty in Pink Card Stock (100459) as the base and also for the punched out flowers which are done with the Trio Flower Punch (109183). The Truck is stamped on Whisper White Card Stock ( 100730) and watercolored in with the Aquapainter (103954) and the Soft Subtle Watercolor Wonder Crayons (106697) and Neutral Watercolor Wonder Crayons (106746). I layered the truck image on a piece of Certainly Celery Card Stock (105125). I scalloped one edge of the Certainly Celery Card Stock (105125) with the Scallop Edge Punch(112091). I used a Strip of Tea Party Designer Series Paper (113992) down the side and a piece of Pretty in Pink 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon (109032) was knotted on the Tea Party DSP. Before I added the truck layer to the card I used the Paper-Piercing Tool (116631) and the Mat Pack (105826) to add the Punched Flowers and then the Silver Brads (104336) This hides the brad backs behind the Certainly Celery Layer and makes the card look more finished. The Happy Birthday was stamped with Basic Gray Classic Stampin' Pad (109120) and is from the Tiny Teeny Wishes Stamp Set (115370).

The second card uses the same supplies except the base is Almost Amethyst Card Stock (102158) and I used Pretty in Pink Card Stock behind the truck image. The ribbon was changed to Whisper White 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon (109025). I really like both cards and it is an easy way to get to cards that look similar but yet not the same from the same supplies. This is really nice if the cards you make are going to the same family at different times of the year.
Tonight we will be having or First Stamp Club of this catalog period and I am looking forward to showing the ladies some new items from the catalog.
