Puzzle Piece Resist Technique

Good evening, I finally found a moment to set down and write a blog post for you. I really haven't dropped off the face of the earth but I have been busy creating which means more cards to share with you. I had my first Technique class last night and I enjoyed it and hope those that attended did too. One of the cards we made was this Puzzle Piece Resist Technique Card that I used for one of my swaps at Convention. The technique can be found at this location. Fly High and Soar

Hello and welcome back! I have been busy as I am sure most of you have been too now that Spring seems to have arrived in Missouri. Today I have a Congratulations card to share with you that uses the soon to be retired Perfect Punches Stamp Set and the Swallowtail Stamp Set. The colors I picked are Pool Party, Whisper White and Soft Suede. I stamped the Swallowtail with Versamark then embossed with the Pool Party Embossing Powder. The sentiment is done the same way then punched out with the Modern Label Punch which is layered on a Large Oval Punch is Soft Suede then a label made with the also soon to be retiring Lots of Tags Sizzlits. I added Soft Suede Taffetta Ribbon and a few pearls for just an extra finishing touch. This card will be perfect for Graduation or an upcoming wedding. Not sure which yet but it will be used soon. Swallowtail Butterfly

Hello and welcome back. I took a few days off from blogging but not from creating. I have two cards to share with you today and while they are both similar I wanted to show you just how you can change a few things like color and sentiment and make the card look new and different. The stamp set that I started with is the Swallowtail Stamp that is in the Spring Catalog. I wasn't going to get this stamp when I first saw it then over time and with the help of my fellow demonstrators showing off their samples I decided I would add it to my collection. I am really glad that I did. As you can see by the cards this is a big stamp. The sentiments are from Bring on the Cake and Wonderful Mother. Let's start with the Mother's Day Card. I used Pool Party and Island Indigo for my colors with Whisper White of course. I inked up the Swallowtail with my Versamark Pad and then added the Pool Party Embossing Powder. I used a Sponge to add Island Indigo Ink over the top of the Swallowtail (I will use a Sponge Dauber next time for better control) to make it really stand out and pop. The sentiment was also stamped with the Island Indigo Pad and then punched out with the Large Oval Punch and backed with a Scallop Oval Punch. I added just a bit of Whisper White 5/8" Organza Ribbon that I added a knot to and the card is finished.

The second card I decided to change up the colors a bit and went with Sahara Sand for the base with Pretty In Pink (Retiring soon) and Melon Mambo. I decided to use my Illuminate Glimmer Watermark Stampin' Pad to see if the shimmer in it would show through the embossing. I didn't really notice a difference but after I embossed the Swallowtail with the Melon Mambo Embossing Powder I did sponge the image with the Illuminate Pad again to give all the areas not embossed a shimmery effect. I added the sentiment which was also embossed and flagged the end. I wanted just a bit of accent so I punched out Pretty In Pink flowers using the Boho Blossoms Punch and added a Large Pearl Basic Jewel to the top after I stacked the three sizes. Birthday Cross Word

Good morning, another dreary day here with the temperature back down in the 30's. Looks like another day to stay inside and stamp. Today I have the final card we made this week for Stamp Time. I have had the Cross My Heart Stamp Set since the Spring Catalog came out but have failed to ink it up until just recently. I think some stamp sets lend themselves to smaller cards and this is one of those. I started with a 3 1/2" base and went from there. The colors are Regal Rose (retiring), Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White and just a touch of Chocolate Chip. Oh, and just a smig of Daffodil Delight on the candle tip. I inked up and stamped the main image three times, then cut out letters from the Regal Rose and Tempting Turquoise to accent the main image which was also cut out after stamping. The cupcake which is included in the set was ink up with the Stampin' Write Markers and then punched out with teh 1" Circle Punch and layered on the 1 1/4" Scallop Circle Punch. My Whisper White background was looking a bit boring so I added a little texture with the Argyle Embossing Folder. The final touches were Dazzling Diamonds added to the cupcake and 1/8" Regal Rose Taffeta Ribbon that I knotted on the side of the card. Beautiful Butterflies

Hello! I am going to share another card with you today that we are doing at our Stamp Time this week. The ladies tonight will be making this card as well as yesterday's card. I must tell you that I bought the Papillon Potpourri Stamp Set a while back but haven't inked it up until this last week. I am glad I waited however since Stampin'Up! just introduced the Bitty Butterfly Punch that coordinates with the set. With the Bitty Butterfly Punch and the Elegant Butterfly Punch this card comes together rather quickly and there is no fussy cutting. The colors are Sahara Sand, Pink Pirouette, Pretty In Pink, Raspberry Ripple, and Early Espresso. The center of the card has been cut out with the Big Shot and the Labels Collection Framelits, so the sentiment which is from the Sale-a-bration set Vintage Verses is popped up in the center of the opening and layered on top of the Pink Pirouette Card Stock. After cutting out the center I added texture with the Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I used Dimensionals to pop up the sentiment and the butterlies, then I added Pearl Basic Jewels to the butterfly bodies and the sentiment for just a bit of extra detail. All Dressed UP!

Hello! I will admit that when the Spring Catalog came out I had no plans to order the All Dressed Up collection. I just didn't think I would need it... fast forward a month and I decided after seeing so many wonderful samples that I was wrong and I did "need" it. So I purchased the Dress Up Framelits and I love them! I have only made the one card so far but I see a lot more in my future. They are so easy to use and there are so many possible ways to make them your own. For this card I used Basic Gray Card Stock for my base and for my dress stand. The background paper and the dress are both Designer Paper from the Twitterpated Designer Series Paper. Behind the dress is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock cut with an oval from the Oval Framelits Dies Collection and then embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper folder.  For embellishments I used both Baja Breeze Seam Binding and an Ivory 5/8"   Flower Trim that I used both the Baja Breeze and Island Indigo Ink Pad and an Aquapainter to color. I also added a few Basic Rhinestones. The sentiment is from the Pop-Up Posies Designer Kit that was stamped using Basic Gray ink on Whisper White Card Stock and then punched out with the Large Oval Punch and layered with a Island Indigo Scallop Oval Punch. I added the sentiment and the dress with Dimensionals. We will be making a card similar to this on Tuesday at my Stamp Time. You can attend the class at either 1pm or 7pm. Latte Love

Good afternoon, today's card is a little nontraditional in color for a Valentine's Day card but it could just be a I love you any day of the year card too. It is one of the projects we did at Shirlene's workshop on Friday and it uses a several Sale-a-bration items. First lets start with the colors. They are pulled from the Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper and are Sahara Sand, Tangerine Tango, Pool Party and Island Indigo. The Designer Series paper is one of the Sale-a-bration options as is the Island Indigo Ribbon we used on the card, but you don't just get the Island Indigo Ribbon you also get Pool Party and Tangerine Tango Ribbon and 36 buttons in Pool Party, Rich Razzleberry and Tangerine Tango. What a great Sale-a-bration option. The Stamp Set is also free with a $50 order and is Patterned Occasions. The other supplies are Stampin Write Markers to ink up the image, Whisper White Card Stock, Honeycomb Embossing Folder, 2 3/8" Scallop Circle Punch and 1 3/4" Circle Punch. Ornament Tags

 

 

I love the Big Shot and all the wonderful things it can do. One of my favorites is cutting through metal. Yesterday I was playing around and came up with these two ornaments that you can use for tags on a gift and can still be used later. All  you need to do is use a permenant marker to write a message or even the year and they are ready to go. For both I used metal flashing that you can find at your local home improvement store, the Big Shot, the larger of the Scallop Squares from the Scallop Square Duo Bigz Die, embossing folders I used both the Delicate Designs Folder and the Northern Flurry Folder, Basic Rhinestones that have been colored with a permanant marker and ribbon. In my case I used retired ribbon since I am working on these for a craft show I am doing in December. I made a larger one also but I will share that another day.

Season Greetings Catalog Case

This last few weeks I have been working on Christmas Cards and while flipping through the catalog I noticed the card on page 18 that used the Snow Swirled Stamp Set and decided to case it. I changed up the colors but the rest is the same or at least as much as I could tell from the picture. I used Baja Breeze, Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler and Whisper White. There is a lot of bling on this card with Basic Rhinestones on each snowflake and the glittery edge made with Sticky Strip and Dazzling Diamonds. The sentiment is punched out with the Extra Large Oval Punch and then the banner is made with the Bitty Banners Framelits and cut in half. Can you see the texture behind the sentiment? That was made with the Designer Frames Folders. There are two shapes to this set the oval and the rectangle that I used on the Cherry Christmas Tree Card.  After making the card I however decided it wasn't quite right for my Christmas Card Classes. Ghoulish Googlies

Good afternoon, are you looking for a quick and easy Halloween Treat idea? If so then check out the Ghoulish Googlies Bundle on Page 27 of the Holiday Mini. You can get the Googly Ghouls Stamp Set, 20 printed double sided tags, 10 glassine bags, 50 adhesive backed googly eyes and 10 pieces of Pumpkin Pie Baker's Twine. I used my bundle to make this cute treat container. I ran the Glassine Bag through the Big Shot with the Spider Web Folder. When using the bags for embossing don't use any tabs on your Big shot platform as it will cause the folder to cute through your bag. I stamped "Frankie" with Jet Black Stazon and then colored him with a Blender Pen and the Lucky Limeade Classic Ink Pad before I added the googly eyes. I wanted the printed tag to stand out just a bit more so I cut out Pumpkin Pie Card Stock with the Big Shot and the Label Collection Framelit. The Pumpkin Pie Label was also embossed with the Spider Web Folder then sponged with a sponge dauber and Basic Gray Classic Ink. I added the Baker's Twine and this treat bag is ready to fill. I have an additional project to share with you later that uses the extra printed tags you get with the Bundle. Midnight Truck

Hello, it is Tuesday and I have another post for you. I hope that now that the kids are getting back into school that I will get back into my stamping routine and I will have new posts more frequently. Today I have a more manly card for you. I started this card a while ago but just kept putting it away as I didn't like the way it was working out. I am still not 100% happy with it but it will do. The base is Midnight Muse which has had texture added with the Square Lattice Folder. I love this color and have been using it quite a bit. The stamp sets are Countryside and Petite Pairs. The main image is a tile technique. I used the diagonal plate on the Simply Scoring Tool and scored the Very Vanilla Card Stock before I stamped the truck image. I then added Midnight Muse around the edge of the card stock before I added another layer of Very Vanilla. The designer paper is from the Comfort Cafe Series and I added two Very Vanilla Brads to the left edge. The sentiment is punched out with the 1" Circle Punch and then added to the card with Stampin Dimensionals. Do you like the tile technique? Little Duckie!

Hello and good afternoon! Today I want to share a fun card that I made this week with a new Technique that was featured at Convention by Jan Tink of Stamp, Paper, Scissors. The technique piece is the plaid background that can be seen behind the duckie. To make this piece all you need it the Big Shot, Striped Embossing Folder, Brayer, Classic Ink Pad(s) and White Card Stock. The colors for this card are Calypso Coral, Pool Party, and Whisper White. The duck includes Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie. The duck is from the Easy Events Stamp Set and is punched out with the 2 3/8" Scallop Circle Punch after is was colored with the Aquapainter. I added a Calypso Coral Dotted Scallop Ribbon Punch piece to the side of the card and to finish off the card I used my sewing machine and stitched. The stitching was quite easy and I will probably more likely to stitch on my cards in the future but I really want to start a new sewing project too, possibly a Christmas one. One more night of club this evening and then I have a few days off but need to work on more Birthday cards for the Bring on the Brithday Cards Class. Designer Birthday Wishes!

Good afternoon! Well, summer is offically coming to an end. I went today and we got my Daughter's class schedule for her Sophomore year. The years seem to fly by and with each passing year is of course another Birthday. Since I have so many Birthdays in the next two months I really need to get a lot of cards made plus I have my upcoming Bring on the Birthday Cards Class. I am not sure if this will be a card for class or not but I do like the way it turned out and am glad the UPS man dropped off the Not Quite Navy Taffeta Ribbon this morning because it is just what this card needed. The Designer Series Paper is from the Paisley Petals Paper Pack and after adhering the 1" strips I cut it out with the Top Note Bigz Die then added some texture with the Houndstooth Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I sanded the raised areas just a bit to give it a more worn look like that favorite quilt that gets used and loved in places that makes it all soft and comfortable. The sentiment is from the Bring of the Cake Stamp Set and was stamped in Not Quite Navy and punched out with the Wide Oval Punch. The mat is River Rock Card Stock and was made by cutting out two Top Notes then cutting each in half one in each direction. Then with some layering you get a mat that is larger than the full Top Note. Of course I could have cut the trim line around the top note but I had the main image done before I thought to add the mat.

I am going to try and do some more stamping today as well as cut the ribbon for the ribbon shares so that they are ready for delivery. Watercolor and Embossing Fun!

Good morning! I few days ago I came across this great card by Lyssa Griffin Zwolanek and I just had to give the technique a try. Thanks, Lyssa! I didn't have the new Embossing Folder that Lyssa used yet so I decided to pull out one of my favorite but sadly neglected folders Manhattan Flowers. I used Whisper White Card Stock and then colored the roses with the Regal Rose and Rose Red Watercolor Crayons. To soften the look I used the Aquapainter and smoothed out the coloring and did some blending. It is a little darker than it appears in the picture but the overcast days have made it hard to take pictures. The Just for You is from the Level 1 Afterthoughts which you can earn when you host a workshop. I decided the card didn't need any other embellishments and just added a layer of Old Olive Card Stock and then a Regal Rose Card Stock base. This card is ready to mail for any occasion and it is easy enough to make several of them just to have on hand. I think I will play around with some other colors and see which color of roses I like the best. Any suggestions for the roses? Let me know. Well, that is it for today. Cute Package with a Surprise inside!

Today I am going to share a little box that we made at the Holiday Gift Giving Open House that I recently held. The box is based off of the box that we received at convention two years ago but the size has been modified to fit the surprise that we also made. The box is made from Real Red Card Stock and embossed with the Petals A Plenty Embossing Folder before it was assembled. To make it look more like a package the Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon was added around the lid and secured underneath with Mini Glue Dots. This allows the box to still be easily opened without destroying the box. To make the tag we used the Modern Label Punch and Soft Suede Card Stock, then stamped Merry Christmas from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set in Real Red Classic Ink on Whisper White Card Stock and punched that out with the Word Window Punch. To add a little bit of bling a Rhinestone Basic Jewel was added and the box is finished. To find out whats inside be sure and stop by tomorrow when I share pictures of the gift. Sympathy Card

I recently needed a sympathy card and this is my go to set for thinking of you can sympathy cards. I really like how easy it is to put a nice card together with just the Thoughts & Prayers Stamp Set. The colors I used are Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso and Very Vanilla Card Stock and ink colors I also used Always Artichoke. I did add a little texture with the Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and the Big Shot. The main image was inked with the Stampin' Write Markers and then stamped while the sentiments were stamped with the Classic Ink Pads. To finish off the card a little Early Espresso Taffeta Ribbon was added with a Mini Glue Dot. On the inside there is a Very Vanilla Top Note Cut out to allow for easy signing. I highly recommend this stamp set. I think while it is still out I will make up some thinking of you cards to have on hand. It is always nice to have a variety of cards on hand for all occasions. Let's Give Letter Press a Try!

Good morning, I am getting ready to head to school to do some volunteer work but before I went I thought I would share a new card with you that I made last week with our new Letterpress Plates. I have had the Joyful Season Letterpress plate for a while now but had not found the time to give it a try. Well, last week I decided that I should use it before the Mini expired and Christmas was over. I started with a Bravo Burgundy Card Stock base that I embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder. Then I used the Big Shot and the Joyful Season Letterpress to make the main image. I simply inked up the plate with the Bravo Burgundy Craft Stampin' Spot and then using Confetti White Card Stock I ran the plate through the Big Shot. Instead of just inking the image on the card stock it also leaves and impression. It is pretty neat and I am going to give it a try again with two colors. To finish off the card I added the Night of Navy Card Stock Panel and then three Silver Brads for the stockings to hang from. That is it, this card was super fast to make and I could make a lot of these very quickly. Okay of for the day but don't forget about the amazing deal on the Starter Kit or the Digital Starter Kit. Elements of Pink

Going through more blog archives and I came across this card that I didn't post or at least I don't think I did. So I thought I would share since I didn't get any pictures taken of the project I completed today. I will share it tomorrow. This is one of my favorite stamp sets and is a great set to own for so many reasons. For this card I used Pretty in Pink and stamped the floral image on the background. Then I used the Scallop Oval Frame and the Big Shot and cut out one Whisper White and one Pretty in Pink Scallop Oval and frame. I used the Square Lattice Embossing Folder on the Whisper White Layer and used Versamark and White Embossing Powder to stamp the floral image in the center of the Oval. I did a little sponging to highlight the flowers and finished the card off with a little Pretty in Pink Taffeta Ribbon and the sentiment. If you have this set and haven't used it recently why not pull it and make a new card to send to someone special today.
