Christmas Time!

Happy Monday Morning! I hope you all had a great weekend. Ours was fantastic. We had fun at the Street Fair and the fireworks were great. My kids got to spend the day with their cousins and my cousins' kids which when you get them together you never know what they will come up with. It keeps us all on our toes. Enough about my weekend though, today I am going to share two Christmas cards with you. When the new catalog came out I feel in love with the Tree Trimmings Stamp Set (116722) and was thrilled when I found out that we would be receiving it at Convention. I have been playing around with the set and the above card is a result of that. It is a pretty simple card but all the ornaments are cut out which takes a little bit of time. The base of the card is Real Red Card Stock (102482) and I added a layer of Shimmery White Card Stock (101910). I started by stamping the sentiment across the bottom of the Shimmery White Card Stock. I used the Heard from the Heart Stamp Set (111644) and Chocolate Chip Classic Ink Pad (100908), then I used the same ink to stamp the ornament strings at various heights across the top of the card. I stamped five ornaments in either Real Red (103133), Old Olive (102277) or Garden Green (102272) Classic Ink and cut them out. I attached them to the card with dimensionals. To finish off the card and to hide the ends of the ornaments strings I added Chocolate Chip Taffeta Ribbon (109065) across the top of the card.

The second card is one that we did at convention and uses the same set. It is a one layer card with a base of Kraft Card Stock (102125). It also uses another new set that we received at convention which is Sweet Season (116471). This is a cute set that makes great tags for gifts. We again cut out the ornaments after stamping them. On the Garden Green Ornament we added a Rhinestone Brad (113144). I love the new Real Red 3/4" Polka-Dot Grosgrain Ribbon (115608). I expect to use it on a lot of my Christmas Projects, the polka-dots just make is so festive.

Halloween Treats!

Good morning, hope you are having a great Friday! I am looking forward to this weekend because my hometown is having a annual Street Fair. This will include a parade, egg toss and games for the kids and fireworks! It will also mean that our family and my brothers families will get to spend some time together. The weather has cooled down and we should have a great weekend! However you didn't come here to hear about my weekend plans did you. I must tell you that when I got up this morning I fully intended to post about Christmas cards. I have been busy creating them all week and thought that would make for a great post, but after doing some blog visiting of my own, I decided I need to share a Halloween Treat container with you and what better way to make a small treat perfect for those Trick or Treaters that you may have or even school treats that with our Sixxiz Big Shot.

I made all three of these in a matter of minutes just because they are so darn cute and the Big Shot makes them so quick to make. No measuring or scoring. Just roll the card stock thru and fold on the prescored lines. The die that I used is Stampin'Up! Matchbox (114890) and I used Old Olive, Perfect Plum and Pumpkin Pie Card Stock. Cast-a-Spell Designer Series Paper (115677) was the perfect match to make the wrap around slide off piece. I used the Eat, Drink & Be Scary Stamp Set (111764) to make each of the tags. This is a great set because you can use our punches to cut out the stamped images. I love not having to cut out images. The top box I used markers to ink up the image and then stamped on Whisper White Card Stock. The punch I used was the Curly Label Punch (112208) and it is matted on the Movers & Shapers Curly Label Die (114506) cut out. I added a piece of Old Olive 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon (109054) around the middle to finish off the box.

On the second box I used the same markers to color the image and then punched it out with the Small Tag Punch (108264) and then layered that on Perfect Plum Card Stock punched out with the Tag Punch (105934), a little 1/4" Old Olive Grosgrain Ribbon (111368) and box two was complete.
The last box is the simplest of all because I didn't want to take away from the Designer Series Paper, so I simply stamped the definition of Halloween in Black Staz-on on Whisper White Card Stock and cut out around it then sponged the edges with more Black Staz-on ink. They will fit a couple of fun size candy bars inside of them and since I didn't add ribbon around the ends all the kids have to do is slide the box out to get the goodies inside. I will be making more of these for the trick or treaters in our neighborhood.

Build-A-Bear

Hello! Sorry it has been a couple of days since I posted last. I have been busy creating new cards to show you and with baseball there hasn't been a good time to post. But I will make up for that today by showing you two cards from a couple of sets that will be available for purchase on September 1st, which is of course just next week! If you haven't heard Stampin'Up! has partnered with Build-a-Bear to make exclusive stamp sets, Sizzix Dies and Designer Series Paper available to you. I have been anxious to ink up these stamp sets for a couple of week and after making three Christmas cards I decided to move onto these cute Bears. The stamp sets are Beary Best Friends (118052) and Beary Nice Wishes (118050). I kept the cards simple because of a project I have coming up in October that will have new stampers at it and also because as cute as these bears are they don't require alot of extras.

Both the girl bear and the boy bear are stamped on Watercolor Paper (105019) as are the sentiments. Using the Watercolor Paper allows your color to blend and spread more easily across your image. I used the Aquapainter and Classic Ink to do my watercoloring. I used colors from the Tall Tales Designer Series Paper (115678) which include Brilliant Blue, Old Olive, So Saffron, and Rose Red. The little girl's card has a striped background that is from the Tall Tales Designer Series Paper. I also added a faux Ric-a-rack on the side by using the Scallop Edge Punch (112091) and lining one side off from the first. This is a great way to give the look of ribbon when you don't have ribbon in a style or color. The little Rose Red Flower is punched out with the Trio Flower Punch (109183). I added a silver brad and attached it to the sentiment.
On the little boy's card I added random punched out circle in Brilliant Blue that matches the card. This just adds dimension. Both would make great cards for the children in your life. Halloween!

Halloween will soon be here and of course I want to get a head start on ideas so today I am sharing a card I made over the weekend. This card uses a new set from the 2009-2010 Idea Book and Catalog. I had a general idea in mind for the card and I wanted to also use the Cast-a-Spell Designer Series Paper. The paper is a little hard to see because I used a technique called Emboss Resist on Designer Paper. Here is how it works. You stamp your image with versamark on your designer series paper and then use clear embossing powder and emboss the image. After you have embossed you sponge classic ink over the entire sheet. After sponging you can then take a paper towel and wipe the excess ink off the embossed image letting the original designer series paper pattern show through. I used the bat from the Scary Skeleton Stamp Set(113244) as my embossed image. The skeleton is from the same set and he is embossed with white embossing powder and versamark. The sentiment is also from the set. The base of the card is Perfect Plum and then the layer of Cast-a-spell designer series paper. I also used Basic Black card stock and Whisper White card stock. The ribbon is 5/8" Satin Whisper White Ribbon. I like how it pops on this card. There you have my first Halloween of this year. Be sure and check back as I will be making more Halloween projects. Convention Fun!

Happy Sunday! Today is a busy day for our family with baseball practice for two teams and scout activities but I do want to share with you three of the projects that we made at Convention. As I mentioned in a previous post we were given the supplies to make eight projects. We also received the stamp sets and wheel to make these projects along with the directions and measurements so that we can make and demonstrate them ourselves. Isn't Stampin'Up! great! The cards above use a cute new stamp set called Things I love (115229), I will be the first to admit that this set was not one that originally appealed to me but it is one that will make me think and try something new so that is always great. The set consists of six stamps with a shopping bag, shoe, chocolate, heart and the two sentiments "things that I love..." and "but most of all you!" We also were given the supplies for a scrapbook page that I haven't finished yet because I want to print a picture first.
The next two projects us the same set Hello Again (113780) and the box also uses the coordinating wheel Retro Remix (115619) We made the box at my open house and it is the perfect size to fill with 8 chocolate nuggets and give as a gift or use as a favor for a party or shower. The projects were all easy to make and would be great for a workshop. Just another great part of convention, getting to come home with projects that make our jobs as demonstrators just a little easier. ;)

Convention Open House

I thought I would share a few pictures from my Convention Open house that I held tonight. Tomorrow I will share pictures of the projects that we did at convention. I did finally finish all but one of them. The picture at the left is not a picture taken at convention but rather one of a display board that my DH and I made to display all the wonderful swaps that I received at Convention. I have always thought it was a great idea to show off the swaps from convention because as much as I stamp and even with all the stamp sets I own I still don't have everything nor the time to make all of these. I am hoping that the ladies that attended last night were inspired by some of them. We also made two of the make-n-takes that we did at convention. Those will be included in the pictures that I share tomorrow.
The second picture is of my Build-a-Bear and her new friend! While at convention we had the opportunity to try out the new Build-a-bear Dies that are for the Sizzix Big Shot and since I have three boys at home I decided to make a boy bear. Don't they look so cute together. I haven't bought the dies yet but am definitely planning to do so. I do have the Beary Best Friends Stamp Set and Beary Nice Wishes Sentiment Set so watch for new cards with those in the coming weeks. Also remember that I will do Adult/Children Workshops for those interested in sharing their love of stamping with the kids in their life.

The last picture is just a few of the items I received while at convention. The back bag that is Old Olive, Tempting Turquoise and Rose Red is our Convention Bag. It was filled with stamp sets and other goodies when we received it. It is a great back and carries I lot of stuff. The other bag is our

Shopping Bags that they sold at Memento Mall and it features the Circle Circus Stamp Set. This as a popular stamp set for swaps as convention and I received several.

More Loads of Love!

Good morning everyone! What a beautiful day we are having here. I got a walk in with a great friend after I took the kids to school and still have time to post a few cards before I pick them up. We have short days the first week which is nice to help get the kids back into school mode. The cards I am sharing today are ones that we did last week at my card class on Watercoloring that I had a request for. The set we used is one that I have had for a very long time. I know that I have had it at least four years, but this year they added a new accessories set that matches it and I have rediscoverd this set. The set is Loads of Love (115022), Loads of Love Accessories (115024) and the new Loads of Fun (115197). The first two are great by themselves but add the Loads of Fun and the options are endless. These sets are great for all holidays as the Accessories set has packages, moving boxes, Easter Eggs, Pumpkins, and dogs to add to the back of the truck. The Loads of Love set has a Christmas tree, flowers and hearts all with matching sentiments. So with just two sets you could cover all your card needs. It is also a great set to watercolor with which is just what we did. The top card uses Bashful Blue Card Stock as the base and then a layer of Real Red Card Stock. I used just a strip of Crushed Curry Patterns Designer Series Paper (115686). We also stamped Birthday Packages randomly all over the Real Red Card Stock with Versamark Ink. The packages is from the Family Accessories Set (113494) and the sentiment is from the Family Phrases Set (114960) which are both part of the Just for Kids' and the Kid in you promotion. If you spend $35 from the Growing Up Section of our catalog you will receive a free package of Designer Buttons (a $7.95 value) for free. Everyone got to watercolor their truck as they wanted and I should have taken some pictures because the cards turned out great!

The last card was a bonus card and we only did one instead of the three like the other card. This card involved stamping the truck, then the trailer and recreational vehicle of there choice with help of the Stamp-a-ma-jig. We then masking the truck, trailer and in this case the four wheeler so that the sun, clouds and ground could be added. After everything was sponged we removed the mask and watercolored the images. The sentiment was added to the clouds last. If you have never done masking before it is simply covering part of an image to allow you to stamp something else or even sponge without changing your original image. I use post it notes to stamp the image I want masked then cut it out with our Paper Snip Scissors, after I have used the mask I place it inside my stamp set box for it to be used again later. No reason to cut out your images again. If you have any questions about masking please leave me a comment and I will be happy to take some pictures to better explain it.

More Back to School!

Tomorrow is the first day of school for all of my children. It will be a fun year as this will be the only year that they are all at the same school. Today I am going to share a 3D projects that was a joint effort between my daughter and me. I got the idea to make a locker caddy after seeing our new lockers at school. I even went and measured the lockers so I would make sure the caddy would fit. After drawing out a design idea I just got busy with other projects and the caddy didn't get made. In steps my daughter, now she is a talented young lady and loves to stamp and makes her own cards as I am sure you have seen some that I have shared. She decided she really wanted the locker caddy done and to her color specifications so she started making it including working out the measurements for the two pockets on the bottom portion that holds her pens and notepaper and also her lunch card. The middle portion has a cork board and we made some custom thumbtacks with the build a brad tops. The top is a mirror. We are going to attach it to the locker with magnets. The Designer Series paper that she used is Thoroughly Modern and has Rose Red, Bermuda Bay, Soft Suede and Sahara Sand in it. She also used Rose Red 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon and 1/2" Bermuda Bay Polka-Dot Grosgrain Ribbon to cover the seams between the panels. She may still add a few other accessories to decorate it but the basic design is done. The locker caddy is really quite light as we used foam board for the base that we got at our local home improvement store. Now my oldest son wants us to make him one with the new Night & Day Specialty Designer Series Paper. He doesn't want a mirror on his but instead wants us to add a dry erase board. I may not get it done by tomorrow but I am sure by next week he will also have a custom locker caddy. Back to School

This week is of course the start of school for many children in our area and in honor of that I thought I would share a project that I made recently with one of our wonderful teachers for her classroom. Our school recently added a new wing for our older students which meant several of the teachers got new classrooms to decorate. The inspire definition is in our new Definitely Decorative Catalog and comes in three colors including Black, White and Brown and two different sizes. The size we used is the biggest and measures 29 3/8" x 10 7/8". The image is applied to a frame on the top of the glass and the backing is left out to show the color of the wall. This is a great option for anyone that might move or just wants the option to change the image to a different location. To help add some extra interest to the piece I used the Big Shot Die-Cut Machine, White Decor Element Sheets (114335) , Swirly Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die (113456) and the Stampin'Up! Blossoms Party Original Die (115971). By using the Decor Element Sheets and the Big Shot you can cut out any of our Dies and apply them just like any other Definitely Decorative items. This makes the choice almost endless for your home decor options.

Tonight I will be holding a class that features the Loads of Love Stamp Set, Watercoloring and the Aquapainter. I had a request for these items and that the cards be kids' birthday cards. Did you know that I work with each of my hostesses to insure that their workshop or class is just what they want and will enjoy. As a thank you for having me do the class I am giving the hostess six handmade cards that I made using a couple of retired sets that she owns and needed ideas for. Now onto the cards. All three of the cards feature the Pink Flamingo Designer Series Paper (113976). Now I will admit that this designer series paper is a little brighter than I would usually use but since I got back from Convention I have been on a Bold Bright kick. The first card has a base of Summer Sun Card Stock (103124) and also a little Tempting Turquoise Card Stock (102067). I used the Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker to ink up just the Thank You from the Elegant Thank You (114484) which is only $6.95. What a great price for a stamp that you will get a lot of use out of. I added a piece of the 3/4" Polka-Dot Grosgrain Ribbon in Real Red turning the ribbon so that the polka-dots are inside the knot. The next two cards are simple but elegant with a base of Whisper White Card Stock and a little Designer Series Paper. The Thank you is again the Elegant Thank You and the Monogram Card uses my favorite alphabet set Lovely Letters (115030). I added a few punch outs behind the sentiment and J to add a little more focus to them.

I am going to keep the other three cards a secret at least for now and hope that she doesn't check my blog before she comes over this evening. I really hope that she enjoys getting the cards.

I received some new Holiday Mini Sneak Peak items today and hope to get to play with them some time over the next week. I am anxious to try out the new Build-a-Bear Stamp Set and hold a workshop using these sets. I think a mother/child workshop or class would be a blast! Jewelry Ideas From Shelli

One of the really fun things about Convention was the Main Stage Presentations. Shelli did one on Day 2 and it was all about gift giving and items you could make to give. Some of my favorites were the earrings and pins (which I failed to get a picture of) :( All of the earrings were made from Stampin'Up! Products and designed by Shelli and her talented family.

The cute Red, Black and White Earrings were made with fabric and cut out with our Big Shot and a flower die. Add a button in the center and you have these cute earrings. The earrings below were made with our Metal Edge Tags, Circle Circus Stamp Set, Black Embossing Powder and our new In color Stampin' Write Markers. The holder is a match box design. These would make a great gift and if you are interested in learning how to make these please let me know and I will schedule a class. I am planning on having a Christmas Gift Class in early November which may include earrings.

One of the great things that Stampin'Up! did for all of it's demonstrators is make most of the project ideas, supplies and pictures available on our Stampin'Up! Website so that we didn't have to frantically take notes and try and get pictures too! Thank you Stampin'Up! for that little extra step.

Of course these Jewelry items are just start as in September Stampin'Up! is releasing it own line of costomizable Charms and Chains. The are called Simply Adorned Charms and they come in three sizes. They feature tempered, beveled glass on front, flat glass on back. They have a locket style charm with a hinge that allows you to insert your works of art and change them as often as you like. Cute Bug Box

Good morning! Today the project I am sharing is one that we did at club last night and will do again at tomorrow nights club. I offer two nights of club with the same projects so that the ladies coming can have some flexiblity in their schedule.

I recieved the Stampin'Up! Fancy Favor Bigz XL Die (115965) before I left for convention but didn't have time to make a box until yesterday. The die cuts out a 6" x 12" piece of card stock or designer series paper into a perfectly scored box that just requires two pieces of sticky strip to finish. We cut out our box in Green Galore Card Stock (107110) and then stamped the bugs from Bugs & Kisses Stamp Set (116580) in Green Galore Classic Stampin' Pad (102122) randomly all over the box. We then assembled the box with Sticky Strip and moved on to our tag. The Brilliant Blue Card Stock (100721) was punched out with the Tag Punch (105934) and then using a technique called thumping we stamped the Cute As a bug! To thump you first ink up your stamp with the lightest of your colors, in our case Green Galore, then using our Brilliant Blue Stampin' Write Marker ( 100057) we lightly tapped the brushed end of the marker over the inked image. After doing this we stamped onto Whisper White Card Stock and it gives you are multicolored stamped image. We punched out the Cute As A Bug! with the Small Tag Punch (108264) and layered it on the larger tag. I used the paper-piercing tool (116631) and mat pack (105836) to add a hole at the top of the tag and then placed a Green Galore Brad from the Bold Brights Brads (105957). The tag was added to the box with a dimensional. We added a handle which is Brilliant Blue Card Stock (100721) cut to 1" x 8 1/2" and stamped with more bugs in Brilliant Blue Classic Ink Pad(100691). I attached the handle with more Green Galore Brads. This box would be perfect for a little boy's birthday party, simply fill it with some party favors and all the guest would have a great treat.

The Bugs and Kisses is just one of the great stamp sets in the Growing Up section of our catalog. More Convention Pictures!

Today is our August Club Night and I can't wait to see my wonderful group of ladies. I will share the projects with you tomorrow and Thursday. Today I am going to share a picture of some of the Memento Mall items that Stampin'Up! had for sale at Convention. There were three display cases set up right outside of Memento Mall as we were waiting in line and this is one. The items we could buy were these really nice and handy Reusable Shopping Bags that came in two designs, Green Water Bottle with Trendy Trees printed around the bottom and an In Color Cube.

Everyday we ate lunch in the Gathering Place and one of the displays included rooms that were decorated with Stampin'Up! Products. I loved this Teen Room which included a lamp, desk set, memo board, and clock all made with Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper and even the Big Shot. This would be a perfect room for any teen or tween. I also took a picture of a Princess Room that I will share with you at a later date.

There are so many more ways to use our products than just for cards, or scrapbooks and home decor is just one of them. If you would like more information on how these items were made please contact me and I would be happy to help.

One of the other things I did while at Convention was to take part in a several organized swaps. One of my favorite was the technique swap. I have them all now in an album and will start scheduling classes. Back From Convention!

Hello to all! I arrived home from convention yesterday and while I had a great time I am also happy to be home with my family again. There were about 3,000 demonstrators at convention this year and wow it was exciting. I learned so much that I will share with you over time.
I just loved this dress that was in the Memento Mall. It is made completely of cardstock and Designer Series Paper. It was just so pretty. I will be sharing more photos with you this week but first I wanted to share a little about some exciting news.

We got to see the My Digital Studio in action and I am super excited about this new product that Stampin'Up! will soon have available to all of you. I am completely digital in my photo taking and I love the idea of being able to easily make projects with my photos and still use our wonderful stamp designs and colors. I can't wait to get my hands on it.
Also Stampin'Up! announced a fantastic hostess special for Sept.1- Nov. 30. If you haven't hosted a workshop in a while or have never hosted one then this is the time for you. If your workshop has $250 in merchandise sold during this time you can pick anything from the New Holiday Mini (expect the My Design Studio and the hostess sets) for only $10 this includes the Sizzix Items! Now if you haven't heard Stampin'Up! has patnered with Build-A-Bear to bring you some super cute stamp sets, Sizzix Dies and Designer Series Paper. These are only available through Stampin'Up! While at convention they offered those of us attending the chance to buy our very own Stampin'Up! Build-A-Bear. She comes with a birth certificate just like the ones you see in stores but she also has a Stampin'Up! Apron for doing workshops and classes and a stamp that says Life without Stamps Unbearable! My roommates and I couldn't resist and we each bought one. Are they not the cutest things. I roomed with Sarah, Rose and Beth and had the very best time. They are awesome ladies and I am so glad that we got to meet and more importantly that they are now my friends. Sarah and Beth are also both from Saint Joseph so I am sure that we will be stamping together again! It was Rose, Beth and my first convention and Sarah's second so she was our expert and guide! She was the best, knowing just where to eat and so much more. Ladies, if any of you are reading this thank you for sharing convention with me and I hope we can do it again.

Good morning, this will be super quick. Today is the last day of convention and we have been busy. I am having a really great time and getting great ideas to share with you all. I will do some posting of pictures once I get home. I have also meet some great ladies and a few guys while here. We are of to the last main stage event of the day. Salt Lake City Swap

Welcome from Salt Lake City. With a little help from my assistant aka my darling daughter I am getting so update my blog from SLC. Today is the first day and we have receive our bags. Very cute canvas tote that we can use for multiple things. Also I stood in line for the Memento Mall for over four hours to get some really great goodies. I will be sure and share pictures later. I have already taken part in the 6x6 technique swap and tonight is our Splitcoast dinner. The card for today is for that dinner. We are swapping with fifty people so that will be a lot of samples to share. I have swapped out 40 general swaps. I used faux linen on the card with the Fresh cuts stamp set. It is actually a revamped card from the one that I made last month. I will try and post again from SLC.
