Felt Reinker Technique Tutorial

Good morning, a few weeks ago I shared This Hydrangea Card with a new technique and I wanted to share a tutorial on how to do the Felt and Reinker Technique. This technique was featured in last months Stampin' Success Magazine, which is a great magazine that demonstrators receive just for being a demonstrator. You will need one styrofoam plate, felt square, Sharpie Marker, a waterproof ink ( I used Jet Black Stazon), Reinkers (Old Olive, Pretty in Pink and Bashful Blue were used for this card), stamp (Because I Care Hostess Set) and Light colored card stock.

1. Fold your felt into fourths, making sure that it is big enough to fit your stamp. Ink up stamp with Jet Black Stazon and stamp directly onto the felt. Before you lift the stamp trace around the block with the Sharpie Marker. This will act as your guide when inking your stamp. Clean stamp.


2. Add reinkers to the felt image. If using multiple colors make sure and leave a little space between as they will spread. I used the Old Olive on the stem and leaves and the Pretty in Pink and Bashful Blue on the flowers. Let the felt pad set for just a little bit to allow the reinkers to spread.

3. Now you are ready to stamp. Reink your stamp by lining up the block with the outline on felt. Then stamp on your card stock. You can do this multiple times without needing to reink or clean your felt pad. I have made just over 30 images at one time.

This technique allows you to get the look of using markers on an image without having to marker the image multiple times. It is a great time saver and you can simply rinse out the felt and allow it to dry to use it over and over again.

New Technique Time

Hello, back again tonight with a new technique and swap card from Convention. I learned this technique from the August Stampin' Success that all demonstrators receive free just for being demonstrators. I received the magazine just a couple of days before I left for Convention and decided to give it a try. I love the look of the multicolored Hydrangea but didn't want to take the time to use the Stampin' Write Markers over and over again. With the Felt Stamp Pad technique you can stamp repeatedly and still get the multicolored look. You will need a piece of felt that is light colored, Jet Black Stazon Pad, Wild Wasabi Reinker, Pretty in Pink Reinker and Bashful Blue Reinker. Additional supplies for the card are Pretty in Pink Card Stock, Whisper White Card Stock, Basic Black Card Stock, Pretty in Pink Classic Stamp Pad, Scallop Trim Coroner Punch, and 1/8" Basic Black Taffeta Ribbon. Baby Wipe Technique

Good morning, I haven't had much time for posting the last few days. I have been busy working on projects and of course hanging out with the kids. Today's card is one that we made last night for Stamp Club. I of course wanted to use a few retiring items and decided to use the True Friends Stamp Set. I have been encouraging everyone to pick up reinkers for all the retiring colors so that you can always reink your stamp pads and keep them good for years to come but Reinkers are also great for several techniques including the one we did last night which is a Baby Wipe Technique. This technique is fairly simple. All you need is a paper or styrofoam plate, baby wipes and reinkers. You are going to create your own multicolored stamp pad with these items. Fold the baby wipe in half once and place on your plate. Start with your darkest reinker which for this card was Rose Red. Place three drops on the baby wipe then add your next color (Cameo Coral which is retiring) we placed five or six drops on the wipe and then filled in with the lightest color which was Barely Banana (also retiring). The drops will spread and make a multicolor stamp pad. You then ink up your stamp and stamp as usual. The background and main flower are stamped with the baby wipe. We also used Cameo Coral, Barely Banana, Rose Red and Whisper White Card Stock. The Cameo Coral and Barely Banana are retiring colors and are available while supplies last. The only other item used on the card besides adhesive is Rose Red 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon which is also on the retirement list. Finally Back!

Good afternoon, I hope that you all had a great Halloween. It was a busy week but I really enjoyed all the activities that we did. The kids had fun trick or treating and came home with lots of candy. I am finally back to being able to stamp so today I decided to make a card using the Polished Stone Technique but it has sort of a twist because instead of using Metallic Reinker I used the Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint to add some shine to my project. Because I really wanted to show off the Polished Stone I kept the accessories to a minimum and just used Kraft Taffeta Ribbon. I played around with adding a sentiment but decided on this card less was definitely more. In the top picture you can see more of the shimmer but even that picture doesn't show off the true shimmer of the Shimmer Paints. The base of the card is Kraft Card Stock (102125). I used Soft

Suede (115663), Dusty Durango (115660)and More Mustard (101962) Reinkers to make the Polished Stone Background. If you haven't tired the Polished Stone Technique before it is quite easy to do. You start with Glossy White Card Stock (102599), then you wet a cotton ball with Rubbing Alcohol and add a few drops of reinker to the cotton ball. Usually I use one to two drops of two different colors then one drop of Silver or Gold Reinker. For this card I instead used one drop of the three colors then just sponged the cotton ball all over the Glossy White Card Stock blending until you get the desired look. Be careful not to over blend as it can make the colors muddy looking. After the Glossy White Card Stock as dried (this step doesn't take long because of the Rubbing Alcohol) then I used a sponge dauber to add the Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint (116806). I used my Heat Tool (100005) to speed up the drying process. After the Shimmer Paint was dry I added leaves from the Autumn Splendor Stamp Set (116503) and used Basic Brown Classic Ink (104315) to stamp them directly on the Polished Stone Sheet. I then finished the card by adding a little Dusty Durango Card Stock (115321) to the top and bottom of the Polished Stone Sheet. The bottoms of the Polished Stone Sheet and the Dusty Durango were torn to add a little distressing to the card and I added a knotted piece of Kraft Taffeta Ribbon (109068) around the bottom.

Sweet Birthday!

Hello! May is a big birthday month for many of my friends and family, including myself so I need lots of cards for this month. Today's card combines the Sweet Slumber Specialty Designer Paper and the White Shimmery card stock technique that we did at club last week. I used the stamp set Pick a Petal to stamp six petals on shimmery card stock with Whisper White Craft Ink then heat embossed with White Embossing Powder. Two of each of the petals were watercolored with the aquapainter and reinker in Ruby Red, So Saffron and Baja Breeze. I am sure going to miss that color after next month. :( The sentiment is from Wow Flowers Stamp Set. I used the large oval punch to punch it out. I added a Baja Breeze Corduroy Button from the Occasions Mini and crochet thread in the center of the flower. Pretty straight forward, but if you have questions be sure and let me know. Embrace Life

Good morning, today I am sharing one of the two cards we made at Stamp Club this week. For those of you that might not know about my Stamp Club let me take a moment to explain. I have two groups of ladies that meet every month at my house to make two projects. These can be cards, scrapbook pages, 3D items made from a template or the Big Shot Dies. They each agree to purchase a certain amount each month and one month during club they are the hostess and they get all the hostess benefits! Next month will be our final club for this catalog period and we will be starting a new Stamp Club in July. I hold my Stamp Clubs on Tuesday and Thursday night and the members have the option of attending either night. This allows them some flexibility with their schedules. Oh and did I mention that they also get their new catalogs as soon as they arrive. If this is something you might be interested in then please let me know and you can be our guest at next month's Stamp Club. It is a great way to meet new stamper or just get together with friends.

I used the technique that was demonstrated at the Seattle Regionals and was created by Crystal French a Stampin'UP Demonstrator from Denver Colorado. It uses Shimmery White Card Stock and Reinker. I love the look of the flowers after it all dries. After my Oval All Note Card Class I had some Walk in the Park DSP leftover so I pulled out the kiwi kiss leaves sheet and cut it to 4x5 1/4". This leaves just a little bit of the base card showing. I used the Kiwi Kiss Textured Card Stock for the base. Did you know that the 12 x12" Textured Card Stock is also included in the buy 3 get one Free special that is going on now until the end of May. We used the Embrace Life Stamp Set and stamped the leaves onto Whisper White Card Stock with Basic Gray Classic Ink. We used the aquapainters and the Kiwi Kiss reinker to color the leaves in. Next we stamped the flowers on Shimmery White Card Stock in Craft Whisper White Ink. We used White Embossing Powder to heat emboss the images. The next step is to spray the images with a water bottle and then using the Aquapainter and Baja Breeze and Cameo Coral Classic Reinkers we added color to the images. This is a really neat effect because when you touch the color to the water it spreads out. Set aside to dry. While we waited we finished assembling the card and stamped our choice of sentiment on Whisper White Card Stock and punched it out with the Scallop Oval Punch from the Occasions Mini. This was layered onto Cameo Coral Card Stock that was punched out with our Wide Oval Punch. After the flowers were dry we cut them out and popped them up with Dimensionals on our leaf image. Faux Stain Glass

Good morning, yesterday was a busy day, but I got quite a few cards made and I will be sharing them with you through out the week. I want to thank all of you that stopped by yesterday and checked out my Faux Stain Glass Tutorial. I loved reading your comments and hope that you will stop by often. Today's card is the the Faux Stain Glass example that I made while I was taking pictures for the tutorial. I didn't want the faux stain glass to not get put into a card and the look is so much different than the other finished card that I made for the previous post. I changed the frame a little by making the base frame smaller and letting it show thru behind the image. I really like the Baja Breeze and Pink Pirouette Reinkers. I sure am going to miss these two colors. If you have the InColor Ink Pads remember to purchase your reinkers before they retire next month so that you can keep your stamp pads reinked plus you can do great techniques like this one! I was asked how long the Crystal Effects takes to dry so I thought I would just add the info to this post. I usually just make mine in the evening and let it dry overnight. It does matter how thickly you put the Crystal Effects on. The thinner the coat the faster it will dry. I would allow at least 3 hours but it could be longer. Window Sheets, Reinkers and Crystal Effects Oh My!

Hello, today's post is going to be a long one with lots of pictures that hopefully I will be able to get in the correct sequence. I am going to show you a new technique that I have been doing with Reinker, window sheets, and crystal effects. Before I get started I will give you a list of materials that you will need.

Materials List:
Medium weight Window Sheet
Crystal Effects
Two Reinkers
Permanent Black Marker
Toothpicks

Big Shot
Manhattan Flower Textured Impressions Die
Scoring tool ( I use the Paper Cutter and scoring blade on pg 189)

1. Cut your Window Sheet to 5 1/2" x4 1/4". This is the standard card front size.

2. Run the window sheet through the Big Shot using the Manhattan Flower Textured Die. I used an extra shim to make sure the impression is nice and deep. The window sheet is clear I just placed it in front of Certainly Celery CardStock to show the details.

3. Turn the window sheet over to the wrong side. The raised outline of the roses should be facing down. With a permanent marker trace the valleys in the image. Do the entire image. See the picture below.
4. After you have the roses traced, flip the window sheet back over and start filling the rose in with Crystal Effects. The raised lines will keep the Crystal Effects in place. After you have completely covered one rose then you are ready to add your Reinkers. For the sample below I used Baja Breeze and just added a few drops and mixed to spread the color.



5. After the first color has been blended to your liking you can add a second color. I just add a few drops of reinker to a stamp case and then pick up smaller amounts with the end of a toothpick and deposit it around the image. I then blend again. See picture below for an example.

6. Repeat adding Crystal Effects to the second rose and then the reinker. On the second rose I used the Pink Pirouette as the main color and the Baja Breeze as a secondary color. After you have completed these steps you can set the window sheet aside to dry.

7. To make the frame for the Faux Stain Glass, I used a standard size card and scored the front 3/8" from all four sides being careful not to score past the 3/8" on the corners. I then cut out the center. I also made a second frame the same way out of a piece of 5 1/2" x 4 1/4 "card stock.

8. After your Stained Glass Image has dried you will use Mini Glue Dots to attach the window sheet to the card base frame. You could also use Sticky Strip but I found Mini Glue Dots worked great. After the image is attached us Mini Glue Dots to add the second frame. This will hide the glue dots and stabilize the image. As an extra touch I stamped a sentiment on the window sheet with Black Stazon Ink. Your Faux Stain Glass is now complete. All products can be purchased through me except the permanent marker.

If this technique has a name I have not discovered it and if it doesn't then I guess I would call it Faux Stain Glass. Either way let me know what you think of the finished product and of my first tutorial. If you have any questions please let me know. Thanks for stopping by, Tonya

Happy Mother's Day

I hope you all got to enjoy a wonderful Mother's Day. Mine was spent with my family. Nothing to exciting but any day that we all have the day off and can do as we want is a great day! The kids and DH surprised me with my Mother's day gift this year. They got me a big planter for our front porch area and a gift card so I can go and get flowers to fill it up. I love this time of year and have been wanting to get some flowers but of course haven't found the time. I will be doing that soon! The biggest surprise of all though was an airline ticket to are you ready.... you will never guess but it is something that those of you that follow my blog will be enjoying too! I am going to Stampin'UP Convention in Salt Lake City. We have talked about this at club and I had decided that this year was not the year for me to go because of DD's birthday and while I still not want to miss her birthday I know that we will celebrate when I get back. I will just have to get her something really cool from the Memento Mall since the girl is so much like her mother and likes all things Stampin'UP. Now I understand that I also have me wonderful SIL to thank as she helped arrange the ticket, so if you are reading this THANK YOU! DH took the time off from work already and I registered for Convention this afternoon, so know all I need it a hotel room and I am set. I hope to bring back all kinds of new ideas that I can share with all of you my wonderful customers and blog followers.

Now of course you didn't come by today to hear about what I got for Mother's Day. I do have a card to share today and I will share the one that DD made also later this week. She did a great job on my card. The card I am sharing is a technique that was demonstrated at the Seattle Regionals by Connie Ingram and originated with Crystal French from Denver. This is the card that I made for my grandma which I gave to her today. I used the same technique for some of the other mother's day cards that I made. The picture doesn't show off the card quite like I would like, it is really shimmery in real life. The hardest part about the card is cutting out all the flowers but I don't mind.
