Technique Swap-Faux Mother of Pearl

Sorry for the lack of posts but I have been busy making cards for a technique swap at Convention. I am not going this year but my friend Sarah is and she is taking the swaps for me so I have new ideas to share with you. This is one of the cards that I made for the Faux Mother of Pearl Swap. The supplies I am using are Calypso Coral Card Stock, Glossy White Card Stock, Basic Black Card Stock, Top Note Bigz Die, Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folders, Frost White Shimmer Paint, Jet Black Stazon, Calypso Coral Classic Ink, Always Artichoke Classic Ink, So Saffron Classic Ink, Large Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch, Clear Rhinestone Brads, 5/8" Whisper White Organza Ribbon , and Aquapainter. I am going to keep this post short as I have Stamp Club projects to cut and more projects on my list to design. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day, Tonya

Just a Bit More Spring!

Good morning! I found time to stamp again yesterday. I didn't realize how much I had been missing my stamping time until the last few days. I have been wanting to do the Faux Mother of Pearl Technique again for a while and the Easter Blossoms Stamp Set seemed like a great choice. It is a little hard to tell in the picture do to the lack of sun but the main panel is Glossy White Card Stock that has been lightly sponged with Shimmer Paint then sponged with Baja Breeze Classic Ink before I stamped and watercolored it. The buds were colored with Regal Rose Classic Ink and the Aquapainter. The base is also Regal Rose and I had a piece of Crumb Cake Card Stock setting on my table that I had texturized with the Square Lattice Impressions Embossing Folder but had not used on a card yet, I cut it down to add behind the main image and it looks like a piece of canvas fabric. I didn't add a sentiment yet since I wasn't sure what I would be using this card for but will add one before I send it. Perhaps a Birthday or a thinking of you. I really like how it appears to be the sky behind the trees. This set is part of the Occasions Mini so please don't hesitate to make your purchase before the end of the month if you love this set as much as I do. I would love for it to find its way into the new catalog in July but you can never tell which sets will make it. Thanks for stopping by today and come back tomorrow when I have a new technique to share with you. Have a great day, Tonya

Snow flakes and Faux Mother of Pearl

Hello, I have been super busy making cards and I have several ideas floating around in my head but not enough time to make them all happen but I will try so be patient with me please. :) One of the techniques that I was asked to show at a recent workshop was Faux Mother Of Pear. You may remember that this is a technique that I learned about from a swap card at Convention this year. Well, since I am working on showcasing Christmas Cards I thought I should update my card sample and make a Christmas Card. I played around with several ideas before settling on this one. There is a little glare on the first card but I think you can see the detail okay. I used a base of Bashful Blue Card Stock and did a little sponging on the edges with Bashful Blue Classic Ink, then Marina Mist Classic Ink on the very edge just to give the Card Stock some depth. The center panel is the Faux Mother of Pearl and I used the Platinum Shimmer Paint on Glossy White Card Stock after the Shimmer Paint dried I sponged Bashful Blue Classic Ink over the card stock. I then used Versamark and White Embossing Powder to heat emboss the snowflakes from Serene Snowflakes. A little more sponging with Marina Mist this time over the snowflakes and then a Aquapainter and the Not Quite Navy Classic Ink Pad to color in the details of the Snowflakes and the panel was complete. To finish it off I used Whisper White Card Stock that was punched with the Scallop Trim Border Punch down both sides of the panel. Marina Mist 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon and Clear Tinsel were used around the panel and the Noel was stamped with Not Quite Navy Classic Ink and punched out with the 1 3/8"x 5/8" Oval Punch. The Noel is from the Many Merry Messages. Definitely a Christmas Sentiment Set to have. Now I have two picture here because after making the card I couldn't decide if I like it horizontal or vertical. Which to you prefer? Leave me a comment and let me know. Well, that is it for today. I am so glad that you stopped by! I hope you have a great day, Tonya

Easel Card and A New Technique!

Good afternoon! This is the first day of our Three Day Tax Free Weekend in Missouri for school supplies so I took all four of my kids shopping for backpacks, crayons and all of those other fun school supplies. May go back and do some clothing shopping but for now they are one step closer to going back to school. Tomorrow is the birthday of two very special ladies in my life. I would even go to say they are the two most important ladies in my life. Yep, my mom and my daughter share a birthday and tomorrow is their big day. So for my mom's card I usually do something with yellow as it is her favorite color and the new Daffodil Delight is a perfect shade. I am not a yellow person and I really like it a lot. My wonderful friend and fellow Demonstrator, Sarah, recently gave me a Easel Card and since I have never made one before I thought it was about time and while at Convention I received a beautiful card that used a new (at least to me) technique called Faux Mother Of Pearl and I decided to combine the two and this is what I came up with. I won't go into all the details on the Technique in this post but will at a later date. With all the new techniques I learned at Convention it might be time for another technique class. What do you think? Supplies for the card are Daffodil Delight Card Stock, Basic Black Card Stock, Whisper White Card Stock, Sincere Salutations Stamp Set, Elements of Style Stamp Set, Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint, Jet Black Stazon, Daffodil Delight Classic Stamp Pad, Old Olive Classic Stamp Pad, Aquapainter, Daffodil Delight Taffeta Ribbon, Scallop Oval Punch, Scallop Trim Corner Punch, 1"Circle Punch, and 1 3/4" x 7/8" Oval Punch. I have added several pictures of the card so that you can see the Easel Style and see the main image which is where I did the Faux Mother of Pearl. The nice thing about the Easel Card is that it folds flat for mailing in a standard size envelope.
If you have any questions about the card or would like to try the Faux Mother Of Pearl Technique let me know and I will work out a class for this technique and if you happen to see my mom or daughter tomorrow be sure and tell them happy birthday but don't mention the card to my mom until after she gets it. ;)
Also don't forget to get me your Tax Free Orders before the weekend ends so that you don't miss out. Thanks for stopping by today and have a great weekend. We have a fun filled one planned. Tonya
