Yet another Quilted Bag

Good afternoon, I seem to be in a stamping slump right now. I guess because I don't have a upcoming project that I need my MOJO has taken a few days off and instead of show you the last Christmas card I thought I would share with you another Teacher's bag that I made in May. I really like the prints I used in this bag and should go back and see if they have any more. I am in the mood to sew so maybe I should just switch for a day or two. This bag uses the Scallop Square Clear Die which allows me to cut out several layers at one time and makes getting to the sewing stage so much faster. Gift for a Friend

Good afternoon! I have been wanting to share my most recent sewing project with you for a few days but I just had not found the time to edit the pictures. Well, today I decided to get the done so that I could share it with you. My daughter had asked for a Scallop Square Purse for a friend and after looking a several different fabrics she picked these bright and fun patterns. This is a smaller messenger style purse with a longer strap that is meant to go around you from one shoulder to the opposite hip. I used 22 sets Scallop Squares including those for the flap. I changed the batting just a little bit and used a cotton batting and cut it with the Scallop Square Die also then instead of cutting between the scallops I left them whole and just washed it to give it a more natural look. I did add a magnetic closure which is a first but was so easy to do. To cover the magnet on the outside flap I made a flower using the Stampin'Up! Blossom Party Original Die and more fabric. I added a Tempting Turquoise Button to the center of the flower then stitched it on the purse. I have added a close up of the flower below. Since my daughter has already gave the purse to her friend I can report that she really liked it and I have request to make one slightly smaller for another friend, so in my free time I will work on that design. Fun and Funky Bag!

Good morning, I found yet another picture of one of the book bags I made at the end of the year for one of our wonderful teachers. This one was my middle son's teacher's bag. I had the kids pick out the fabric and I really like how these all came together. I haven't been sewing lately but just looking at this bag makes me want to go by fabric and get busy sewing again. I hope the teachers are enjoying their bags and that they get lots of use out of them whether it is for school or personal use. I made a bag similar in size to this one for convention and it worked great to help carry around swaps and such. Well, I had better run I have four wonderful girls coming over this morning to make locker caddies. I will try and remember to take a few pictures of their projects so I can share with you later. They are using the fun and cheery Sunny Garden Designer Series Paper. :) It makes me happy just looking at the paper! Yet Another Quilted Purse

Hello, no stamping project for right now. We have a busy day ahead of us and I am hoping to get to stamp later but no promises. So for now I thought I would share one of the Purses/Book Bags that I made for the end of the year teacher gifts. This one went to my oldest son's teacher. He enjoyed having her this past year and will continue to have her for History the next two years. I took each of the kids shopping to pick out the fabric that they thought best suited their teacher. This fabric is so very pretty in person not sure if the pictures really show how pretty it is. It has a shimmer to it and a little bit of gold that is really hard to see.
I am getting ready to start a new sewing project. One of the swaps that I signed up for at Convention is a Quilt Square Swap. We will each be making squares with Ivory Fabric and the Clear Flower Die. I am signed up for 7 groups or 70 squares. I can't wait to get started and to go shopping for new fabric. Top Dawgs Bag

Hello, for my second post of the day I wanted to show you a sewing project that I completed last month. I made book bags for all of my children's teachers and this was my daughter's fabric choice for her teacher. The class news letter is The Top Dawgs and she thought that dog fabric would be very fitting. I used the Big Shot Die Cut Machine and the Scallop Square Clear Die to cut out all the fabric minus the straps. Then just a little batting and a sewing machine and you are ready to sew. I am now looking at the Big Shot Dies a little differently trying to plan out a quilting project as well as paper projects. Teachers' Book Bags

Hello! No stamping today, it was just to pretty of a day and we spent the whole day outside. I do have the sunburn to prove it on my legs. So I have a book bag to share that I recently made for one of the wonderful teachers at our school. Each of my kids picked out the fabric for a bag for each of their teachers. I will share the flower bag today that went to our kindergarten teacher. I made the bag a little wider so accommodate papers and books that they might want to take home. The straps are a little longer too. I used the Big Shot and the Clear Scallop Die which makes cutting the squares so simple and quick. I made three other bags but I will wait and share those another day. If you would like to learn how to make this bags yourself just give me a call and we can set up a class. Patriotic Bag

Not much stamping going on this week it was more of a cleaning and laundry week with us trying to get ready for the graduations. I did complete this patriotic bag when I was making my mom's tractor bag. This one is for my sister in law and is a bigger size perfect for summer. This was made with assorted denim jeans in various colors for a fun look and the patriot red, white and blue flag fabric. Would you like your own bag? Tractor Purse for Mom

Well, it is a rainy Monday here in Missouri. I haven't posted in a few days and not because I haven't been making things life has just been busy and projects haven't been quite done. I have several ready to share now and I thought I would start with the John Deer Tractor Purse that I made for my mom as part of her Mother's Day gift. She had asked for one that she could take to work. I had the fabric at the all ready and since I am using jeans that my family (mom, brother, myself) have discarded the purse was pretty easy to make. I really like the blue jean when it is washed as it tends to fray out more than the other fabrics. I used the Big Shot and the Clear Scallop Square Die to cut out all the squares. It will cut through multiple layers at a time. I tend to watch my evening shows and cut squares as I watch. Messenger Bag!

I have been sewing again and I am super excited about the messenger bag that I am sharing with you today. Last week I mentioned that I had a project that I had completed and couldn't share and this is it. I was asked to make this for a birthday girl and I really wasn't sure what I was going to make until I started it. I was asked to make a messenger style bag with a longer strap that would hit about waist length. One of the things I added to this bag is the flap that allows it to close and also it is reversible yes reversible! How cool is that. I added buttons on the inside and out so that it can easily be closed. The bag is of course made with the Square Scallop Die and the Big Shot. There are 22 squares in the purse so you need to cut out 44 total because each is double sided. This is a great size for a every day bag or for a teenager.You can see from the pictures that one side is smooth and the other has the scalloped edge that will fray as you wash it. Butterfly Bag!

I have been sewing again and with the orders that I have right now I will be doing even more. This bag is the same size as the Baseball Bag that I showed you yesterday with a definite girl look. I love the look of this fabric and since it features butterflies, I just couldn't resist adding a butterfly pin to the bag. Now it is a little hard to see so I have a close up for you. I used two different sizes of butterflies made with the Stampin'Up! Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die. This die will also easily cut through fabric and the batting. I hand stitched the butterflies and then stitched them together and added pink beads from the Pink Duo Beads. I really think this is a nice touch and the pin can be removed and added to a hat, headband or shirt. The bag is made with the Clear Scallop Square Die and the Big Shot. Finished Baseball Bag

Good afternoon! What a beautiful day we are having here. It makes me think that spring has arrived and in our house that means baseball. I showed you the start of my Baseball bag the other day and today I can show you the completed project. This is a BIG bag and would be perfect for groceries as well as for sporting events. I even added a pocket inside to hold my keys or cell phone and since it is made from denim it should be extra strong. Really it is the same as the other rag quilt bags I have made before just larger. Baseball Bag

Good morning, I mentioned in one of my previous post that I have been sewing again. I have three projects currently in the works but since the other two are for someone else I won't share those at this time, but I do have a new bag that I am making for me. This bag is going to be my baseball bag. Baseball practices start this week and of course with three boys in the house we will have a lot of baseball games to attend and I wanted a big bag to handle all the things I need to take. Since I often help by keeping the books for at least one team if not two I wanted the bag big enough for my books, pens, pencils, water bottles and cell phone. This bag has a inside pocket just for my cell phone or car keys which will be nice. I haven't finished it yet but I thought I would give you a sneak peak. The material is just old jeans and then the baseball fabric that I found at a local store. I used the Clear Scallop Square die to cut them all out and they have a square of batting between each set. The bag is going to be four squares by four squares on the front and back with the sides being two squares by four squares. This is the biggest bag that I have made thus far and since this picture was taken I have got all but the straps on the bag so I should be ready to show you the completed bag early this week.

Treats for the team!

Hello and Happy Sunday! Today I want to share my sewing project for the week. I needed to do treat bags for my daughter's gymnastics team mates for this weekends meet and she asked if I would make them Scallop Square Purses. Of course I was happy to do so, she just needed to pick out the fabric. After looking at several locations she choose the bright daisies and four solid fabrics to coordinate with the daisies. Each girl's bag is different and they have lots of goodies inside. They are so bright and cute I hope the girls like them as much as we do. This size is a little smaller than the other two bags I have shown you. They only have 14 scallop squares total with the front being just four squares. Rag Purse Fun!

Good morning! It is Monday again and the weekend flew by, but I do have lots to share with you because I have been busy stamping, sewing and I had my 3rd Annual Valentine's day Class for Kids this weekend. I had nine kids here on Saturday and we had so much fun! I love stamping and with kids it is such a fun experience to watch them create.I will share those pictures later. For now I wanted to share with you my latest Rag Purse creation. This one is for my wonderful daughter. She picked out the fabric she wanted and I cut out and sewed the purse. We didn't have Stampin'Up! colors in mind when she picked the fabric so image our surprise when we discovered that we had so many our our wonderful colors right in the fabric. I am still planning on making a card with these colors maybe this afternoon. ;) I used the Big Shot Die Cutting Machine (if you would like to own one for yourself contact me), Stampin'Up! Scallop Square Bigz Clear Die (115950), Rose Red 1" Double-Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon (111846) for the handles and One retired Kiwi Kiss Corduroy Button for the center of the flower. Oh, I about forgot the flower, I added this to the bag and it was super easy to make. I used the Stampin'Up! Flower Fold Bigz XL Die (115970) to cut out two pieces of fabric and one layer of batting. Then I hand stitched around the flower for the quilted look I wanted. Now you do need to be careful not to put to many layers through the Big Shot with the flower die as it has score lines to fold the flower. I didn't have any problem with mine cutting with the three layers but you might want to test your die and Big Shot first. The flower is attached with a pin so that it can be removed or moved on the purse as the mood strikes.
Let me know what you think of the new purse, I would love to hear your feedback. I recently received another Big Shot die that I am eager to try out with quilting. There are so many things you can do with the Big Shot and I haven't even begun to tap into them, if you have a specific thing you would like me to try let me know I love a challenge!
