Reinkers and Alcohol

No it's not what you are thinking! There was a recent discussion on Splitcoast about a product available from Maya Road that is a spray ink. I am not familiar with the product but the idea sounded interesting so I decided to try my hand at replicating the product with Stampin'UP products. I started experimenting and came up with some results that I thought were worth sharing. Now at this time I have only tried it with one color so I am not sure if the ratio is the same for all reinkers but I will give more of them a try. The orginal product is used to spray chipboard. Now if any of you have tried coloring chipboard it can be a messy process. You have to smoosh the chipboard into the ink pad the wait for it to dry or heat set it with the embossing gun. I used a small spray bottle and used 91% rubbing alcohol (found in the pharmacy) and Baja Breeze reinker. The first attempt is on the left and I just added both with no measuring. I then diluted the mixture with more rubbing alcohol and the middle piece is the result. Now since I was using natural color chipboard the results are a little darker and I decided to give it a try with white chipboard. Enter the BigShot (you thought I could do a post without it) I cut out the Daisy from a chipboard coaster and after measuring the mixture I sprayed it and using the embossing gun dried it. The mixture I used for the flower is as follows 1/2 tsp rubbing alcohol to 8 drops Baja Breeze reinker. I tried a couple of other reinkers and the Riding Hood Red used the same ratio however the Night of Navy was a little lighter using the ratio. Still a nice match just a lighter match. I would also recommend spraying on scrap paper and with a large splatter zone as it can be messy. I do think it is easier than smooshing it in the inkpad however and less messy on the hands. Let me know what you think. Have a great day and thanks for stopping by, Tonya

Wow, that's amazing! Nice work & thanks so much for the hint ... though I might prefer smooshing on a craft pad to cleaning the spray bottle - I *hate* doing the dishes :)
